Since some seem to see a problem with wallspam, and i agree on certain maps it can turn quite bad, i propose the following change.

Create an attachment point on either side of the wall. Walls can only placed connected to eachother. They cannot, in any case, overlap. If you want to place unconnected wall pieces in an area there has to be at least the width you need to walk in between left.

a quick and dirty mspaint sceme incase my description sucks too much ^^

what about elaborate flattened Z formations basically making multi layered walls all the same?

as long as individual wall pieces are connected at the attachment points and dont overlap with previous walls you can do whatever shapes you can think off.
walls placed inside walls are kinda supid anyway, you cant place raxes inside raxes too ...

also the only reason i was thinking of this is your suggestion :D

i agree, but a commander or engineer could potentially do this

making it kinda the same effect as before, since its 1 long wall with all the yellow connections used the walls are not prevented building

ah i now see what you mean, yes i havnt predicted that. hmm could be countered with a max angle tho (like not less than 30-45° or smthg?)

its basically worked out. up to the point now i cant think of any more downsides, maybe if someone brings some up, ill reply to their concerns. plz dont put the whole burden for this on my shoulders, unless some others on that forum, i know that the chance that my ideas are flawless is pretty low ... (oh and this isnt directed at you)

    :|ove:

    edit:
well at a certain angle the walls would start to overlap anyway (sadly this currently is different for be/nf walls as their shape, especially thickness, isnt the same) it might actually not be necessary to introduce a max angle since it already states "walls cannot overlap" in the OP ...

i edited it, added in a critical (to me) line

Another way to solve the problem might be the introduction of a specialized Anti-Defense weapon.

Wallspam is not bad, it is good. Stupid ass boomtanking comms need to be punished when they're doing retarded shit, and infinite wallspam is a perfect punishment. Besides, wallspam problems are basically solved now that unbuilt walls take full damage from splash weapons.

why would it? you could either build it as a whole or connect it later on. if you want to leave gaps they have to be at least the width to walk through. i dont see much of a change for that ...
