Just what the title says, you'd start with twice the starting ammo when you take ammo upgrade. I honestly don't see any reason not to, currently ammo upgrade takes a few seconds longer before you can actually use it while you try to find ammo somewhere before moving out. This just speeds up the process a bit. This was probably suggested before, but digging through the suggestions isn't exactly fun.
I'm kind of torn on this personally. On the one hand it makes sense, but on the other hand it feels like it's not really addressing the problem which I just realised from your post. I wouldn't like the idea of people taking ammo upgrade just because the commander was too lazy to drop an armoury or engineers didn't drop ammo. You still pick up ammo at the same rate which means you spend ages sat at an ammo box. I think it'd actually be nice if it topped up your ammo much quicker when you used an ammo box. A fair rate would be, whereas before every "tick" of ammo was, well, a chunk of ammo, it would be better if each of those "ticks" actually filled up an entire weapon, so within 4 ticks maximum, you're fully loaded.
Should we call it "grabby hands" then? I agree with you to some point, but I think topping of a single weapon with one tick is too fast. I'd just simply double the amount of ammo you would normally get per tick.
Isn't this what we have now? Or am I reading it wrong? If switching your skill to ammo upgrade also gives you extra ammo, some tactics may be utilized.
You get double the amount you can carry, but you still have the same starting amount and the amount of ammo you get per tick as far as I know. Doubling the amount of ammo per tick would lead to being able to carry more ammo and filling that up in the same time.
Ammo upgrade gives you ammunition slowly over time as you are near ammo boxes or armouries + the larger amount can be carried.
ITT People still don't know the game they're changing. You replenish more ammo per tick when ammo upgrade is equipped - you get it over twice as fast as without the upgrade in some cases. The refill is already pretty quick as is, I personally don't see much sense in increasing pickup rate.
Pickup rate is okay on stuff like rpgs and mortars since you get alot of mileage out of single charges, but stocking up on a dry rifle and pistol takes forever. And screw getting one sticky per pickup.
It still takes too long to fill your ammo up entirely with ammo upgrade. This is actually a really good idea.
I don't get it, the only thing that restocks at 1 a tick is grenades, I think it is only the sticky grenades too. Everything else restocks at double the rate. When people say it takes a lot longer to restock with ammo upgrade I don't get that either. It is 1 more tick, that is all it takes to get to full compared to not having ammo upgrade. I suppose people don't take ammo upgrade to notice this stuff. I say again though, I'm not really seeing a reason to not start with double ammo when you take ammo upgrade. You'd still have to hit up an ammo box somewhere to get full ammo, and it would also still take 2 ticks to stock up to full. To add on to a thought, it would still be a situational thing. It takes a perk slot which means that person is not gonna have health upgrade, speed upgrade, defusal, whatever. Saying you don't want it because you think it's a problem with engy's not dropping ammo or not enough armories is a tad silly. Ammo upgrade isn't a basic gameplay element, its a buff that people, very few people mind you, take and they should get a little more out of it.
Changing class resets ammo counts by the way. Also I always felt that picking up only one sticky per tick with ammo upgrade was a bug. And amagad it's so long to stand there for a few seconds the waiting is literally what kills Empires >_>

Therefore, ammo upgrade should double the size of your pickups. And since starting ammo is generally 50-75% of the max ammo, doubling the max ammo adds considerably to the time necessary to max out on your ammo. If ammo upgrade doubled starting ammo as well, then it would always take the same number of pickups to max out your ammo, barring any rounding issues.
I don't quite get what you mean by this. Unless you're saying what I said in a different way. It's 1 second a tick, which means it literally takes 3 extra seconds to max out on ammo if you have ammo upgrade. Wow. Only thing that doesn't need to get ammo is mines, you start with 5.
The most popular class for ammo upgrade is Grenadier, which is probably where the grenade thing applies to, as far as Mortars, RPGs, Mines, etc. I've only really taken Ammo Upgrade on that class and it just feels like it takes forever to fill up.
