im in as long as the nubs speak coherent english/german/russian. still i dont think this is going to work out, not with the sense of responsibility common on teh interwebz.
Lol, I knew the reference it seemed like a fitting title to a topic. Plus more people might look at it because of that. :p But no, no baby eating.
Once they learn the basics of how to play, then I'll be happy to explain the details and mechanics of the game. Before then, don't bother teaching people how to play the game. There is a guide, there is a wiki. There are countless threads on the forums. If they can't figure out how to build a tank and put armor on it, I don't want to teach them. Once they figured that out, i'll be happy to explain the differences between the armors and such. It's not that i don't support helping new players, but it's hard to figure out whether someone really wants to know or if they just messing around and don't care enough to listen for 2 seconds. The latter are very frustrating and are the reason I don't play as often as I used to.
I have an idea. If you guys wanna help out other people put [instructor] beside your name, so people will be able to ask you for help, or maybe something shorter like [help] or [askmeforhelp]
everyone that is willing to learn empires their is someone that wants to learn it. You dont get the people that you need to teach with such an even/clan/community whatever...
It's not a joke, we really did this. However, we're not really doing this anymore, we've got a lot of people and are trying to push more on the clan front now. Straevaras, I would really recommend you go with the [EMP] tags or something similar and make it more like a large community rather than a clan per se. You could tell people that anyone else wearing the tags is in the same boat as them, and you could have a different tag for people who know a certain amount - e.g. [1st EMP], [2nd EMP], or somesuch. The 1st division could be the vets (and maybe the core clan), and the 2nd division could be those who know the basics.
or you could just name yourself Emp_(class or military rank here) like Emp_Engineer or Emp_Lieutenant for the times that you feel like teaching people how to play, or how to play that specific class. that way a player doesn't think that a certain person will always and forever want to help them, but look for a specific name and ask them for help.
So basically, my name would be SF : tovarich cookie [EMP1]. Get the word out-i already go out of my way to teach new people anyway. And DO NOT LET HSM TEACH. HE WILL EAT THEM LIKE BABIES. BTW, PM me for the details.
If hsm and sodaen would do this, we'd have a whole new batch of emp-players that would think that empires is about building a vf and apc rushing the enemy. and i do miss sodaen , he's hilarious as a comm. (so are you hsm)
