A great way to get much more players into the game!

Open the Steam Store window, click on "FREE STUFF -> Game Mods", click on "Game Mods" in upper right corner.
Now look at all these Mods (some are real crappy compared to Empires)

Do you notice anything?

Empires is not on the List!

When I first played trough HL2, I was searching for some nice Mods for it and the first place I looked was exactly that Site inside steam. I did download and have a look at lots of them and many have an active community, even if they are pretty crappy (like Sourceforts). And from time to time new mods are added to that Site.

Now my question is: How can we put Empires on that list?

I think it would be a great advantange for everybody to get plenty of new players into the game, I don't mean "Let's spamm n00bs to the hand full of servers!"

Yeah I dunno if you could find the all the topics about this even if you searched cause it always seems to get brought up in random topics..

We just need to send steam pictures and the info.. I've always supported this idea but I'm lazy and not good at photoshop.. Maybe you guys can make some ruff drafts for us to pick from and then we can get dee to send it in.

However, I still wonder why Empires isn't listed there. Even the suckey Insurgency is listed there.

I think the BE Heavy Tank needs to be prominently displayed. That was the main draw of the game for me -- big tanks that drive around and shoot stuff Also, no HUD.

Eh, catch-22.

We can wait for the next major release of Empires, then ask Valve to put a news story for it on Steam and add it to the mods list.

we don't need to consider much:

I just checked current playercounts on servers of mods like ballmen, Age of Chivalry, The hidden, IOS and Jailbreak. None of that mod has as much players only at this time (184 in germany) than Empires and that mods are all in the Steam "free stuff"-Tab, we are not. Meaning, maybe we are better

I'm not good at photoshop, but if anyone does ingame screens for steam, please make sure there are tanks and different classes of infantry in one picture. Maybe with some flying rockets and buildings and stuff. Since I've noticed many people like to watch matches in Spectator-mode, there should be many situations for everyone to take great pictures. Even if HUD is in the picture, thats not something we have to hide from interested visitors in steam.

the Overwiev description in steam wiki is great to take for text, I think.

I don't think so. For example, Insect Infestation is on the list (unique mod, no players). I fail to see how either Insurgency or Eternal Silence has more players than Empires. I think no one has taken the time to submit the required pics to steam so that they can list Empires.

 

Insurgency has more players ES does not.

 

But some of those might have had more players than Empires at one point (especially if they were clever and asked Valve to put them up right after a release, when every mod gets a rush of players.)

 

I doubt that Valve is going to refuse to put Empires on that list if we ask them now.
Means: Do all the things we need to do and finally get Empires on the list >_>!

 

I'm not opposed to email spamming valve to put Empires on the list.

 

Is it because Empires is still listed as being in Beta that they don't put it on their site?
