9 mine flipping

    allright we all know about this. HOWEVER with the chopper raid basically revolving around this "exploit" I think it may be time to say good bye to our favourite empires pasttime.

    The only reason it lasted this long is because its usefull for ninjaing and its just plain funny (the rofl moments thread probably wouldnt exist if it werent for it). sure it produced many lulz but with the influx of noobs in empires 2.0 it's probably best that we get this fixed before the aircraft patch is implemented (because we all know that the 2.0 launch playerbase will probably pale in comparison to 3.0)

    it's also used as around the corner anti tank mines and to get friendly tanks unstuck
    people can grief in a lot of ways, driving the cv into water etc, admins can deal with griefers

    yes it is usefull but its also pretty ridiculous if you think about it

    how about 9 mining a vehicle on the same team wont catapult it into the air but rather lift it a little but not high enough to flip it, so you can still use it to unstuck friendly vehicles but its much harder to greif by using 9 mines

    Yeah, I can't see a reason for removing it.

    Also isn't it just natural that when you stack more explosives to one place they will create bigger explosion?

    I still haven't seen what kind of flip a heavy tank does when it drives over 24 mines on full speed. :cool:

    leave it as is. nothing is funnier than getting 2 tanks stuck in the unbuilt bridge after flag 2 on emp_escort, then 9 mining them out, only to have them land on enemies. the comedy is well worth it.

    Why don't we remove tanks because people can push the cv around with them?

    I don't think they should be able to detonate the mines after being killed and respawning. That's as far as I would go.

    There are legitamate uses for 9 mining your CV. Such as unflipping it when the comm got flipped by either his crazy driving or the crazy driving of an enemy tank.

    I could tolerate eliminating 9 mine friendly fire (just the force push*, not the damage, i know i know) but after these last few days, I have to vote a strong no on removing 9 mining altogether. That is one of the options that ensures that the losing team always has a chance, which is what ensures that the losing team will always have fun even if they're losing. I was iffy about 9 mine awhile back, but I'm positive about it now--removing this feature altogether would hurt the game a whole bunch.


    I could see lithium's solution working-- reduce force from explosion by some factor, maybe 1/2, but honestly i doubt that would solve the issue, it's still enough to tip it with a determined team.

    maybe make it so only the first will detonate, and all the others go into 'safe mode?'

    edit: thats in reference to Dee's post, the 2 posts above mine wern't there when I started my reply.

    I dont have any problem 9 mining or being 9 mined... I can't count how many times I used this to get my or someone elses APC unstuck...

    Or trying to get the com out of the river in mValley as an entire team repairs it...

    I got my tank flipped just by driving over mines...

    or the one time when the commander accidentally (really by accident, not griefing.) dropped the cv in the mvalley river-- we scrambled the entire team, and had two guys repairing it and me and some other gren 9 mined the shit out of it and actually saved it. It was in the water for what literally must have been like 2 minutes (although it FELT like 10). We still lost... but damn man, we should have been pwned utterly. It was truly a moral victory. :D

    How many times have I said this and been ignored? This something I'd LOVE to see.

    I also think friendly mines shouldn't do a DAMN thing to friendly vehicles unless FF is implemented.

    There are lots of useful uses for 9 mine flipping.

    your comm gets flipped
    your comm gets stuck
    your comm goes in a river

    any of the above but with any other friendly vehicle

    a vehicle gets stuck in the VF.

    Hey, I just thought of a good idea for the mines, all by myself- what if the friendly mines didn't do a DAMN thing to friendly vehicles unless FF is implemented? I think my idea is a good one.

    Oh cmon you've never enjoyed 9 mining a stuck tank or gone mine surfing? It's a fun part of the game and vehicles should fly into the air and surpass a 1080.

    You know what?!? Fine let them 9 mine flip all they want but, let the code make it impossible to flip friendly tanks on there back while allowing them to flip friendly tanks back on there tracks.
