I know this sounds like im nit-picking, but the NF 50 cal's magazine would not hold 50 cal rounds, plus 50 cal rifles (i think) can penetrate armor?

That with the current NF heavy rifle. the fictional gun could never hold the fictional bullets in it's current fictional configuration magazine.

Anyway, them not fitting, might be true. And as for armour piercing, we'll see.

Well the psychos at Waco, Texas used .50 cal for defense. THey worked pretty well at shutting down APCs from what I remember. And they are completley legal from what I remember...

depends entirely on the armour used
    cobham armour not a chance
    jobham yes
and most tanks arnt actually fully armoured so a .50 would tear them apart if hit in the right place

which leads me onto my next point, why not give the grenadier the option of a 50 cal rifle instead of the rocket launcher?

It also depends on the type of round. I don't know about giving grenadiers a rifle. Then they'd be able to rip through infantry as well as tanks and buildings.

tbh no person would be able to heft a .50 assault rifle
and christ the recoil would be stupid
have you ever seen a desert eagle being fired...
well imagine that but firing 800rpm
jesus christ the guy would have his arm smashed after the first 5-10 rounds :P

It could be justified by the fact that NF are genetically engineered and BE are enhanced by nanotechnology :)

To my understanding the NF 2nd machine gun is designed to be a 50 cal gun that can also hurt armor (or turrets/buildings) Right now that gun is next to worthless imo, but if it could hurt tanks and buildings it would be way more useful.. but then again that would make it take the place of naders. .

Just don't have it do as much damage (bout 5 bullets to destroy a jeep?) and only really effective against vehicles? :)

    Isn't the rifle semi-auto though?

    thats a scoped "sniper" rifle
it has a muffler on the end of the barrel which eats up 40% of the recoil
and a sliding barrel which eats up another 30% of the recoil
    and i said ASSAULT RIFLE

yeah dee i spose that would work

If i remeber correctly (from Red Ocastra) didn't the soviet union have some kind of semi automatic anti-tank rifle? infact didn't most sides have a similar item?
giving the grenadier one of those would be cool, as he could use it to tear one or two infitary to shreads, but the reload time would suck, also if it was highly effective against the armour types that the missle was ineffective against, it would give him a choise.
such in that if he took the rifle, he'd be less effective against regenerative, absorbant, and composite, but more effective against reactive, reflective, and plain.. etc.. and the missle the opposite.

prehaps also as his missle IS his mortar, give the rifle some kind of secondary fire, such as being deployed for faster fireing (croutching like the mortar)

point of fact, couldn't it be possible that the nanites produce bullets from a reserve of materials, as the NF 'grow' them? it would make sence considering both sides tecnology and the size of the magazine, it would also explain the turrets infinite ammunition.
