Yes, but that doesn't change how V, the movie, and V, the comic book, had somewhat different messages.
I think trying to look too deeply into this movie is folly. It's meant to be a fun and energized romp, nothing else.
Believe it or not, there are major difference between Frank Miller and Mark Twain. For example, while Mark Twain was a great American writer, Frank Miller is a comic book artist. Also, Not everything has layers of deep psychological and sociopolitical meaning. Some stuff is just meant for fun.
CLEARLY, the lack of pants and shirts by the greeks was intentional and psychological, and part of Hollywood's secret all-encompasing plan to turn me gay as part of their liberal, man-on-man/jeep-on-jeep agenda. That, and Rosebud was the name of Xerxes' sled. It's layers upon layers! oooo.... I'm really tired... I hope I don't regret this post later.
TBL, that wasn't exactly what I was saying. DF: Yes. Twain was a great American author. He also claimed, to the day he died, that Huck Finn contained no social commentary, and was merely a fun romp down the Mississippi. Bullshit.
Was on the US news this morning, its in the top 10, and its rated R, which apparently is not normal. There a conspiracy that it was made for teens, and that teens are sneaking in I'll be seeing it at one point. Too bad I already know the history of the Spartans, so I basically know the story.
I know, but like the post says, I was sleep deprived, I thought it was funny and tried to lighten the atmosphere in the thread, and, MAINLY, I thought it was a great place the throw out a subtle reference to Stephen Colbert. That brings us to today's word: Hollywood Values!
Okay, hold on here, I'm having trouble pinning down your argument here. Is it that because Mark Twain didn't want to admit his book had a sentiment that ran against the common current of the day, Frank Miller must be doing the same? Furthermore, what parts of the movie actually bother you?
I'm not saying that he MUST be putting things in. I'm saying that regardless of what an author says, you have to judge for yourself what they may or may not have intentionally or accidentally said. Second, I never said that anything I saw bothered me or ran contrary to what I would consider to be reasonable. Third, I left this post sitting half-written so long I forgot what all I was going to say. Nevertheless, I think people are overreacting to my comments. After all, The Giver is a book that doesn't end in a happy manner.
I like Feta. Gyros and Moussaka are delicious, too. #Edit: Holy Jeebus.. I forgot Tzatziki!! Btw. .. OffTopic totally 0wned this thread. :p
