Well this is the fourth time I've been killed by it. I don't think delay is good, I'd prefer if it was spread little over a radar-sized area with about 5 shells. That way it's USEFUL for buildings, infantry, and turret-farms.
Have to agree with shadow. I have seen the game end 4 times IN A ROW to arty strike ninja. Its very frustrating to play the game up to that point and say to yourself... why even play? Arty ninja strike is more powerful then the nuke bug ever was. Radar building sized radius and fixing the overheat seems like that would make it a better weapon for taking out turret farms plus fix the insta-com kill.
Arty strike helps your team by taking down a key target. I consider the commander to be a key target.
Would be a great alternative but it would need to be changed, since you never get a chance to drop it in the middle of a barracks... usually the sides
Coffeburrito is looking into removing the heat it does, that will allow a cv to escape from multiple arty strikes.
It's hella gay. In 1.7 or even now. Ninjas have a had an unspoken rule. Only ninja as a last ditch effort or if you have no other way to win. This dude snakedfox will do it on a winning team or during the middle of a good even match. Atleast my ninjas were celebrated by the team about to lose. Now he's just ruining good games for everyone.
Yeah if needed remove it just that snakeDfox cant use it anymore. I experienced him once talking more 10 mins about how he destroyed a rax with arty strikes... and he really thinks hes the only one who can do that... like no one else can arty strike the cv...
I've used arty strikes to kill commanders a lot. Even before 2.22 but again, only when the game was lost. You should play the game normally until you lose so much ground that you start to turtle in your base. Then you can sneak off and find a hole in there defense and use it. It doesn't always work because some teams are good at protecting the cv. But that's how it should be. Rite now It seems to me that's he's just griefing and making people not want to command in the only populated american server.
And the worst part is, YOU CAN NOT EVEN SEE IT COMING. He can be from half-a-field away, and can still get you! And it's not just SnakeDfox, though he is the one who's boasting about his so-called achievements. There've been plenty others. But the fact that it takes...what? 5 strikes, 20 points, to die....is insane. Commy, the arty strike hits the ground where you aim, using the eventscripts equivalent of getviewcoord. It gets the XYZ coordinates of the EXACT MIDDLE of your screen and sends it there. Thus, all you need to do is aim into the middle.
Didn't think I needed to explain it... if arty got a bigger radius with less accuracy you would have to be above a barracks for the artillery shells to hit it with effectiveness. Since most the time your on ground level that means when you call an arty strike on a building only half of it is going to hit since the arty radius is being called down on the outside of the building.
Well don't forget, I think each shell has a small splash radius...but umm..hmm. Well, the main point is to reduce the effect of arty against commanders. Unless there is some actual way to reduce the damage done specifically to emp_XX(X)_commander, then we might have to sacrifice being able to single-handedly take down a key structure from a mile away-oh wait, that's not a bad thing, is it?
It'd be simple if infantry radars 'scramble' squad artillery orders so that they misfire or fire inaccurately. This makes radars useful and leaves players to make an important decision between a camera and radar. Really, who makes radars when in a clinch?
Well commander hull health got raised from 1200 to 1600 and the armor has received a huge buff as well. The amount of heat it takes has also been reduced (gonna have to see if its enough)
The comm armor was doubled, the hull was increased from 1200-1600...an 33% increase. Basically it takes 50 points to arty strike a commander now.
