first proposed on a server, and unanimously agreed; lets put it here and see what happens. 10% infantry movement bonus, permaneant, making the scout mildly faster than other classes, allowing it to get to the action ahead of team mates- more of a scout. this would be in addition to any speed skills the scout chooses. does not effect vehicles. effect? affect? i really should learn which one is which one day.
lol you guys.... this is already how it is.. im not sure if its 10 percent or what.. but they are faster.. or i think its that they have more stamina
effect- 1. something that is produced by an agency or cause; result; consequence: Exposure to the sun had the effect of toughening his skin. affect-1. to act on; produce an effect or change in: Cold weather affected the crops. Yeah, interesting idea could make the scout more useful.
I'm not adverse to this, but if they're already a little faster, mebbe give them a faster prone instead, due to all their sneaking about.
what ikalx said. Frankly, I think scouts are the must useless class on classic maps, and I'll bet that the forum would agree with me. If this is what it takes, then I say go for it. If they aren't faster, make em faster. If they are faster, make em move in prone and crouch faster.
they can run longer because of the stamina and are very useful(and annoying) on classic maps with 30 or more players
i'm coming around to thinking its good that stamina is given a bonus and not speed- speed helps you loads in combat while stamina is good for out of combat and generally any combat where it's not giving you a bonus. i mean, if you can move left to right quicker then thats a combat bonus, as when people fight with SMGs they generally bob and weave to escape... but stamina bonus means that you run around longer but wont get an advantage in a fight. perhaps scouts should have MORE of a bonus? just throwing that idea out
I've experienced that a scout with speed upgrade pretty much is a complete monster, I'm sure he can outrun assailants if they lack firepower, and zigzag his way to safety. Combine that with hide, melee upgrade, and health regeneration and you got a completely self-sufficient murder SMG machine to deply in enemy territory.
Scout has no natural bonuses to speed or stamina to begin with. The thing he does have is the squad speed aura which makes everyone near the scout SL move faster.
Wrong, scout has a natural bonus to stamina recharge (2x). Getting the stamina skill on top gives him a 4x recharge.
this should be in one of the map change tooltips- hardly anyone knows this. i don't even think it's on the wiki.
I'd like to see scout have a natural 15% speed increase. Mind you this is because I chose scout on escort with the speed skill for rushing first to flags. Suggesting things that benefit you FTW.
i had NO IDEA about the stamina thing, and that means I've been playing scouts 100% wrong--- that is, I've been treating sprint like an emergency move, not a distance gain thing. Think about this, simon-- with x4 stamina recovery (stamup skill) I could, theoretically, use sprint constantly, but in short bursts and it would almost be as good as the rifleman's charge power up. I havent done the math and i CERTAINLY havent actually tried doing this stuff, but it might be all the benefits of the speed increase without the drawback of overpowering the scout combat ability. Given that i've been trying to not suck with the scout rifle, my commentary on scouts as early rushers is limited at best. edit: still have limited knowledge but it appears that the stamina up doesnt do a whole bunch.
i know it's fail that's why i use it. I'm determined to practice with it until I can run and gun like it's an AR. It makes for very painful practice sessions. Very frustrating practice sessions.
I made this amazing kill with the scout rifle the other day; some one was running from the center to north on duststorm, and horisontally right in the middle of the map all the way. plus, due to a "hill" in displacements, all I could see was their head, which was about two pixels big. from BE barracks i got a headshot :D. that kind of good feelings doesn't get old. I don't mean to gloat, i honestly suck with the scout rifle- if i don't get ammo when i spawn than more often than not I'll run out of start ammo before i get a kill :p
