Anyone gonna be hosting a 64 man server? Please only do so if you are really sure you can handle it :'( I'd love to have a go at 64 man, perhaps get an offical server (meaning we can be sure the server would be ok).
what about a low resource 10 tanks per team 64 server? would that go at an acceptable rate on the current server hardware used?
I like the idea of a 10-tank server. The extra infantry combat would certainly make things... Interesting.
10 tanks per 32 man team? you would get 16 people camping the vf waiting for an opportunity to get a tank instead of "exciting inf combat"
I think the maps would have to be modified to allow for a greater amount of tickets (200 ticket map = depleted after everyone dies about 6.25 times).
Yeah. We just played a map. Urban chaos or something. The tickets went out in a few minutes. Those CTF maps should either be unlimited tickets or a lot when playing on a 64 player server.
apparently you've never had a 5 hour urban chaos match when there were 500 tickets or what not and no bleeder. also, solution would be a ticket multiplier similar to the res multiplier I think. That or let servers set the ticket multiplier. Just remember that this will likely create 5 hour matches. Fun if you have the time ^_^
Urbanchaos badly needs a redesign. The PUG match on that map was a clusterfuck of walls and lag (48 players + 42 engies = mega wall spam). The most fun I have on that map is when I APC rush the enemy flags and end it within 5 minutes.
64 players would be epic, even with 10 tanks per team. The community has a max of about 80 players ever on, usually around 60. When you have servers of max 35 or 40 you cut the community in a lopsided half; no one wants to play the second server with 25 players in it, so they play other things. I really hate to say it but servers with limits under 40 players really don't help us and aren't worth much.
G4TC's server has 64 slots I wonder if we can get smooth gameplay with that many slots. Hopefully it won't require two or three quad core processors...
If we can reach that goal by limiting the amount of vehicles, go for it ! Trying it out won't hurt anyone.
