Reskin all the players so they look similar to CS skins. Then re-release the mod under a new name like Counter-Strike War or something. Have that said mod be exactily the same as Empires in terms of compatibility. Wait 1-30 days, and you get a whole new playerbase! Of course you would play under the game name Empires with original skins, while the newbies think they are playing a bigger version of Counter-Strike :D
I THINK THAT'S AN AWESOME IDEA!!!! "hey wait a seconds.....this is CSS...WHAT IS THIS?!?! They've screwed up CSS wtf hazors!!" shot the scarasm
Why not just tell people about it on the CSS servers from time to time? Empires would get a lot of new players looking for something different, an we would have more people to play with/against.
Don't think the average CS twitch gamer is our kind of audience. Garry's mod and NS players however are a different story.
Counter-Stroke players generally don't do well in Empires. The run-and-gun mentality of CS(S) rarely applies in this game, where teamwork > individual player skill. That is not to say that skill plays no role in Empires, just a completely different role than in your plain old FPS.
All of us where CS whores at one time; more players is always good; and you never know they might actualy do well... You cannot just genrelize like that to the whole CS crowd; some people don't even know what mods are...
Then how can you judge them without even playing their game? I've been playing CSS for about as long as I've been playing Empires(about a month now), and most of the people I meet are very smart, not flailing idiots who whine about everything.
I came from CS / DOD and at first I was grenadier lonewolf, rifleman lonewolf, the whole time until I realized I could build tanks... and that my commander was saying stuff.... rofl.
I was a CS whore. But that was like manymanymany years ago. Also: CS Betas (especially betas 5 and 6) > CS Final When I go to a LAN and some fgtz wanna play CS (1.6, most of them only started at 1.0 or later) I usually switch into lecture mode and tell them what goddamn noobs they are and how much more pwnage the colt is with fixed silencer and a scope... I feel old.
I hate CSS people playing empires, because I'll get headshotted from across the map every time. I was a turn-based strategy player before all this Source stuff.
