There seems to be a fap craze over reading the manual with some people, and I wanted to know if it was justified. So have you, as a member of the forums with at least a reasonable level of skill, read the manual?
I read the whole thing because there were actually some good tips, like binding the f menu etc. Only problem is i found out about it after i had gone through all the rigors of being a noob already. I think it should open up after you download/install the game.
I read the whole thing from start to finish before joining my first game. Nevertheless i had no clue what to do and stayed at the base to build some walls.
Yup. Read the whole thing as I was downloading the mod. I even printed out the tech tree when I started commanding. The manual doesn't make you a good player, but it helps with simple stuff like choosing classes or how to build a vehicle.
I read over it when beerdude was making it for stuff to add and whatnot but I never read it to learn anything.
Never read it, first thing I did after installing Empires was to create my own server and learn some of the basics. After that I joined a public game, and things went kinda smooth from there.
I think I read all or most before I joined a server. It's a pretty good manual with lots of pictures (whee!) and clear tips. It just helped with getting to grips with the way the game worked, still had to ask some questions, but I could function as a player better from the get go.
I read the first one years ago, but almost nothing of it is still relevant. I don't even know the research tree these days. Everything keeps changing so there's no point in trying to understand the full picture anymore. I just run and shoot a lot nowadays.
Read the wiki after played a while. Especially the printable version of the research tree is a must have for every new commander. And therefore I have updated the wiki .
I studied the whole wiki before dling, but that was only because of steam saying that empires is out when it wasnt.
