Maybe the plane carcass should stay to offer some cover though, landing in enemy territory you're bound to be knee-deep in shit.
I seriously doubt a dropship pilot's going to go down over friendly territory unless a major enemy attack is happening, at which point the cover is STILL useful.
Wouldn't you sink Slith? I'd be like the scene in the empire strikes back where lukes X-wing was neck deep in shit for going to a swamp planet to visit a 9000 year old midget.
yeah, really good. what I like most about this is that it can be coupled with the impact calculation, where the impact does damage based on V*sin (x), where V is velocity and x is angle if impact with the ground. an aerial explosion wouldn't neccessarily (and infact, i recommend shouldn't) mean that the aircraft dies in a puff of smoke... just that the pilot is fully dead and the aircraft is on fire/ disintegrated. in fact, the pilot doesn't even need to die at -100, the aircraft just needs to expload imidiately on contact with the ground.
Only thing I can think of adding would be that once the health of the aircraft reaches 0 turrents stop firing at it like stated before but any missiles already in the air still home in on it. That way its not a good idea to try suiciding at a wall of turrents and gliding in once your "dead".
why would you stop the turrents firing? i'd say have priority targets and shoot at living planes first if possible but shoot at gliding ones if they're all thats about. a lot of the time the aircraft may have left the range of a turrent or gone behind cover after its been shot and there's still player versus player stuff about so you'd get to see the planes falling from skies. otherwise just fly in very low, turrents would have a hard time against you and you're safe if they do hit you since you'll just bounce along for a mile or two.
Thought the who point of this thread was to solidify an idea to submit to Krenzo.. Please dont take it as a demand. (Though it is a cool idea.)
If the netherlands is anything like belgium, i suggest you go somewhere else for your honeymoon. It's boring here, and cold, and it rains most of the time.
no... noooo.... NOOOOOOO... NOO. NO no no no no no seriously why is this neccessary to everyone? why does the pilot need to be able to eject? that will make the game so SO much worse. you can get out of your plane if you survive the crash landing. no need to ruin it by the pilot just thinking "heh i can just press one button and float down to saftey." i've never been so sure of something as to think this is a bad idea. nothing personal.
