my only suggestion at the time is add more detail to the starting areas, but thats more beta style stuff.
Everyone here is good in atleast something, except for me. I can't map, can't model, can't make sounds, textures, animations, .... nothing really. I've started a map once, about 6 months ago, but I couldn't get things to work. I wasn't even able to apply textures. Well I could, but they would repeat in both directions. Had no clue how to solve that. I remember trying out softimage xsi for hl2, I tried to model a weapon (thompson). It Looked ok, but for some reason there were some sort of bugs in the model causing too much triangles. If i tried to remove them other triangles showed up. Next problem: I didn't knew how to give the weapon textures. I had also now idea whatsoever I had to make seperate models for the weapon so things could move using animations. I couldn't even make the simplest animation. Then I remembered that even if I was able to make a weapon, it still had to be ... I don't know, done something with it, so it could work in Source. So I stopped. One day, I repeat, ONE DAY I WILL FINISH SOMETHING. But it's all so difficult
tutorials, tutorials, tutorials m8! thats how i learned photoshop, how i learned to map, and how im learning to model/texture. (note, photoshop is the only one of the above things i can do well )
ok I hit a roadblock so I going to put out what I have then ask for ideas and stuff Just give me a day to fix a bug or 2 By the way it will be out to test for css because I don't have to create a overview for everytime I edit something
ok here are the grayprints of the barkers map Now here what I got plan The red color area is the Nf barracks The Blue color area is the Be barracks The white area is the path to both barracks and the green is the flags to be taken ( note the green on the barrack is the flah inside the barrack So what do u think and note I will be putting out a small bit of the map for feedback reason sometime today Note it will be for css/hl2dm that test run not empires because I can test it faster that way and without making a overview ( because I suck at it)
I never really map for empires before and I do change the name after each ver so when the newone stop working I can go back a ver and see what might have made it stop working Also here it is http://www.sendspace.com/file/alrkwe Note the css ver has more detals then the hl2dm because there was model the css has the dm don't To play open up the folder that has the game u want to play it in and put the bsp in the map folder There nothing custom in there so it should work just fine
