That's because railworks is a massive cash cow. Something like 1000 bucks for all DLCs holy fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
well the 2 servers are both 50 players and 64 players cap, and custom factor had a bit of players on it. back then, even though there were like a dozen full servers, it was like 32 player cap. both servers were filled at the same time, and that has happened like only once in the past 2 years
I was expecting atleast 1000 players.. I mean millions of people prolly goto that home page and we maybe doubled the amount of people that were playing.. I think that's pretty pathetic, specially compared to the 2.0 release, that was impressive. I know steam didn't really give a heads up and were pretty lame about things, like they didn't give a news update like they did for those other mods. But still front page for a few days on the steam home page should of brought more than a server full of people..

We were front page for about 16 hours, and even then, only visible if you scrolled down, not on the big slideshow at the top.
I suppose you could ask the guys you're talking to at Valve to set up the "mods" section that used to be on steam. I don't mean ask on the steam forums either, I mean, just ask them. They're pretty great to customers, I'm sure you could work something out. Just bringing that section back would help greatly with player population in all the mods.
TBH I'd be surprised if they did this. Steams added a lot since they last did that for mods. I imagine those slide shows are worth thousands a day in revenue.
We should ask valve for one of the llittle news popups. Worst case scenario they say no, best case scenario we gain 10000 players.
i really tried it, but ... empires in unplayable atm: griefers driving CV into water or enemy base, newbs stealing tanks or CV, newb comms who have no idea wat to do, teams where 1 half is scout and the other clueless engis, paper heavies, smoke grenade spam in own base, players trying to kill tanks w/ MGs, teammates continuously asking "how to spawn" or "how to get ammo", teams who camp in base and basically wait for defeat, idiots trolling or spaming the chat w/ random crap, noob engis walling off base exit, etc etc time for an empires break, i dont have endless patience. i hope in 2-3 weeks we still have 3 populated servers (or more!).
the newbies show the flaws in the games mechanics - we are just too used to them. a lot of them would be easy to fix (possible solutions to each single one have been brought up before), but get ignored or downplayed over and over again.
