Yeh, I dropped the visdistance on buildings from 50k to 12k (default). Reduced vehicles per team from 15 to 12, but I'll probably knock it further to 10. I think the LT might need a slight buff so it can carry an extra person. But either way, tanks will really have to work with infantry now, which is pretty good.
I love high visibility, on tanks, players and especially buildings. I guess raising the player max to over 64 is simply going to require too much bandwidth for awesome viewdistance. Though wouldn't buildings be one of the cheaper things to make highly visible, since they have no need for regular updates from the server apart from when they go 'boom'. And for g4tc, a spectator bandwidth usage nerf would save quite a few interweb cycles. Those speccers are flying over the battlefield at high speed and need updates on more entities than the actual players (apart from the comm).
63 slots - 13 spectator = 50 players/2teams = 25 player per team 10 vehicles for 25 players is MORE than enough, so yeah, go for it. Maybe that way you can slightly increase building view distance again to somewhere between the standard and the current value. Edit: Actually 8 would be more than enough. 1/3 of the players could still be driving vehicles
This game needs a different way to communicate with in squads or somthing if your gonna have this many people playing.
A full 64 server with 10 vehicles per site max playes awesome. Somehow empires playes better with less tanks.
We just had a clanners vs pubber match on the server. We reached 63 players (no spectators!) and i experienced no lag. btw, the clanners won
why dont ALL servers have 64 slots? there are still some that only have 32-40 are some servers just incapable of doing it? edit: lol at the guy with 11 deaths and 1 point (and low ping
Man I wish I could have been there. Yes, they would just melt. There used to be servers which could barely handle 40 players.
they would just melt? what is the difference between g4tc which has 63 slots and vipers which has about 42 slots in that respect?
Some stupid people here.... Maybe I can give you a small lesson in servers. More people = more bandwidth and CPU used, by your logic, you could run a 64 slot on your home computer...which you most certainly can't.
if you plan to lower the vehicle count, then go for it, but dont whine about coms bitching because 2/3 of their team is camping the vf...
In all 64 games it worked quite well with 10 tanks per side. Not more vehicle campers than in the average game.
ive got a 10mbps connection on a duel I7 with 12 gigs of ram and 2 geforce 9800s can i host a 64 man :D
