Does everyone agree that Homing Missiles are not worth researching because they are absolutely useless?
Even then they are useless, they do almost no damage. I never ever mentioned to kill a tank with homing missiles.
FN198 almost managed to kill me as comm because I wasn't paying attention for about 8 seconds because he was homing sniping my ass from the bridge. I've also seen med rushes that raped the enemy comm while it was trying to escape on duststorm
That is 5 Mediums with lots of armour and homing rushing 1 comm. Expect 5 mediums with guided trying to fight off 5 mediums with HE. Now, who do you think is going to win? Homing or HE? (FFS)
Jesus, am I the only guy who loves Homing? Guided is great on long distance, but homing dominates on short range areas, like Steets or Crossroads. A salvo locks in seconds at close range, and the improved homing locks really fast even at range. And packs a helluva punch. The salvo is just mean now.... especially on NF Heavies.
Guided does not own as I still see people get owned even if they have a heavy 6/6 composite double homing salvo.
Part of the problem when I used Homing, at least was that the target and 'sensor' for the missiles seems to be in the very center of the tank, so that low walls and even infantry reset the lockon timer. Also, the long range lockon is way too long, and at ranges where it is short enough to be used, spamming normal well aimed missiles or cannons is just as effective. The only thing they are good for atm is to freak out tank drivers with the lockon alarm.
I personally hi-tail it out of there if I hear the lockon of missile turrets or other threats. I've seen what turrets can do to vehicles, usually from the not-business-end.
UHM LOCK ON AND THAN SHOT HIGHER ?!?!? In standart combat it takes about a second (it feels like) to lock on
Damage = 90. You shoot and forget. How is homing a pile of shit? Also, dumbfire homing = perfectly straight line. Homing missiles = sniper rockets. If you can call a missile that either shoots perfectly straight or locks on to an enemy from a distance and follows them anywhere shit, then you are a complete nub that doesn't know how to use weapons. You can't beat a cannon tank straight up with any rockets, cept for UML. Guided and Homing are meant to be used from a distance where it's easy to dodge enemies. Saying it's shit just means you cannot use a weapon properly. If you learned how to use it instead of bitching about how it is always beaten by any tank in a straight up fight, which isn't what homing and guided are designed for, you'd find it is very effective at what it does. What it doesn't do is work like every other weapon that doesn't change trajectory after you fire.
