Hooray! Too bad they're all communist jerks who feel like they should select and limit the Pure Pwnage fan chat to like 80 poeple, through emails with only "My Xfire name is ______" in the body.
Excellent. I've recently started using Xfire, and didn't know if mods were even supported. This is good news.
Holy Shit I just yesterday I wrote this post(edited today) last post on the page. http://empires.cw-hosting.net/showthread.php?t=455&page=2
To talk to your friends by instant messanger while in game. It also tracks how much time you spend playing games as shown in my signature.
It's basically a means of knowing where your friends are and what they are doing. At any time you can see what game they are playing and which server, and then join that game with them. It also keeps stats and stuff as you can see above.
No need to start a game and search the servers on which people you know are playing. Just choose someone in xfire, choose join game, the right game will launch automatically, you'll connect to the right server automatically and you can play with your buddies. It also notifies you when a patch has come out for one of the games you have, and depending on your settings, it will download and install that patch in the right folder automatically. And don't forget voice-chat offcourse, and some other minor advantages.
I like steam friends more, but mostly because XFire reminds me of ICQ, which i hate with a passion. I also hardly play games that aren't on Steam except for the occasional COD2 and Civ4 game. Should I assume that the popularity of Xfire is related to the popularity of WoW? Nevertheless, this announcement excites me, and I might find a bigger reason to use/turn on XFire.
From what I know, not really no. I've been going through some profiles of my friends, and games like cs, cs: s and cod are winning by far. Strange, I don't even play one of these. Example, one of my friends plays this: Half-Life 2 Garry's Mod - 364 hours Counter-Strike Source - 95 hours Half-Life 2 - 78 hours Battlefield 2 - 18 hours Half-Life 2: Deathmatch - 5 hours
i would much rather use steam friends because xfire messes up internet connections and it slows the internet down. i used to love it untill it started to kill steam and all my other internet games. i strongly suggest not to download xfire if you havnt already.
I tried it once, didn't use it because it wasn't very compatable with MW4:Mercs, which is the game I play the most.
civ4 ftw knighttemplar I play it too, not in a while tho, the multiplayer games are like 3+ hours or you end up pwning them with catapults swordmen and horse archers
I've got no idea what you guys are talking about. I've never had even the slightest problem with xfire. It sometimes can take a while before a game is added, but that's all that I can think off. No problems with the network, my os or any of my games. In fact, I only installed xfire a few years ago because every other program was unstable (especially steam friends that time - hope it keeps working now). Ow maybe one other thing I could complain about. The default setting in xfire is to download and install patches for games immediately. It should be off by default, since not all my games are legal and I usually don't have a crack for the latest patch.
