why do you change to the Half Life singleplayer engine?

Yeah I agree beerdude :p ... the darn thing has been pretty stable latley... There are no more random crashes here and there... sure there are quite a few bugs... but Id say it doesnt feel beta enough :p

 

It's true. The only times I crash these days is during Alt-Tab'ing out of the game. And even that I suspect is because of some driver issue.

 

The lack of crashes is actually somewhat surprising now, I remember the good ol days when victory was having more tickets when the enemy when the server crashed, and so far into a game was the use of arty, many recruits believed it was only a myth... those were the days...

but you see on the first look you cant play mods without HL2ingleplayer

 

You seem to have HL2 (single player). You can try reporting it to valve (on steampowered support).

 

If you have Half Life 2: Deathmatch, you can play Empires.

 

Well, having a look at the scrrenshots it seems like an unlocked HL² single player is required for HL² mods to show up on steam even if they only need the HL²DM data package... wether this is intended by Valve or not I can't tell :/

 

That might be a problem, then.

Solved by making a shortcut directly to the HL2 executable and pointing the HL2 executable to the empires directory.

 

I think the Episode 2 engine will become a whole new experience, judging from what I hear so far.

 

I think so too, but...we aren't that far for nowund it is yet unknown, if Empires will even use the Ep2-Engine.

Because it uses half-life 2 content as well, like models, textures, etc.

 

It is a bit of a nuisance needing both installed.

 

Solokiller: you get all of those even if you just install the demo. You just don't have Valve's permission to play HL2 SP.

 

€40 to play all the mods you want, don't tell me you can never get your hands on €40...

 

i got DOD:S, CS:S and HL2DM for 27€ to unlook HL2: singleplayer in these account valve want 30€ from me. do you give me 20€

you get such a pack only in germany but there is no information on it that you cant play mods with it!

 

I was stupid to buy, like, Half: Life 2 bronze in the stores. It's cheap and you can play about all the mods you want, ye' savvy? By now that game's crap cheap, if you buy each game seperate, it's not your right to complain. I paid €40 for Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life 2: Deatmatch and Counter-Strike: Source in the local supermarket.

Instead of buying online, you can go to the shop to buy them. You can also buy the standard Half-Life 2 packs on line, infact, I think you can only buy silver and gold online.

If you choose not to buy the base of most of the source mods, you kind of lose the right to gripe about not being able to play mods pal.
