Updated research tree (with icons): http://wiki.empiresmod.com/index.php?title=Image:Empires224TechTreeIcon.gif Here some example numbers (when researching armor, engine and then weapons only from one tree). These numbers should be only a small help for those, who doesn't want to calculate them. Physics Armor: 210 sec / 975 res Engine: 150 sec / 525 res Canon/Missile: 60 sec / 300 res (Ranged) Sum: 420 seconds / 1800 res Chemistry Armor: 180 sec / 975 res Engine: 210 sec / 725 res Canon/Missile: 150 sec / 775 res (HE) Sum: 540 sec / 2475 res Electrical Armor: 240 sec / 675 res Engine: 150 sec / 1000 res Canon/Missile: 120 sec / 230 res (Guided) Sum: 510 sec / 1905 res Biology Armor: 270 sec / 700 res Engine: 60 sec / 325 res Canon/Missile: 150 sec / 900 res (Bio ML) Sum: 480 sec / 1925 res Mechanical Armor: 250 sec / 975 res Engine: 150 sec / 450 res
It's a Multiple Choice Poll. And maybe the discussion about the research trees will help some new commanders.
Had a good game as com on tropicvendetta with Bio ML heavies. But of course you need a good team for this.
Regen --> Gas Turbine --> Guided --> Mk2. Reflective --> Gas Turbine --> ER --> Mediums --> DU Is my research for NF/BE.
ROFL!! I get regen a fair bit, especially if i'm NF and then gas turbine. This leads to Bio ML for mark II's, but I usually have to open chemistry after that. I go down physics if i'm BE. Mechanics if my team are pwning...Electrical only rarely, I'm still hung up about reactive although I know it's not that expensive anymore. As always, i'll get abs if my team are getting really pwned.
I used to get bio as NF... Everyone demanded missiles even though we had bio ML. No one used it. I would have to go get UML after heavies because people would be throwing around standard ML's still. I usually only comm in games no one else will, so its a noobfest anyway.
Probably because while you're pissing about with regen mark 2s, I'm getting something useful like chemistry heavies.
it all depends on if there are noobs on my team or not if there are some noobs, I go biology if there are no good players, i go level 3 turrets and adv rpg if everyone on my team is good players, I go physics/elec always dip into chem for UML/HE, and I get gas turbine if the engine of choice in my research tree is slow or is not worth it to get
you kinda need a fast engine for that why not go reactive and 3phase first so you can actually get those apcs somewhere
By then, the enemy has control of the map and you can't apply pressure anywhere. Once you get a spawning APC out, you just need to hide it. By the time you have armor and an engine for those APCs, the enemy has fielded armor that will kill the APCs.
well, then you need to get better apc drivers, because whenever i try to get plain/standard apcs anywhere it usually ends up being a disaster, involving rockets and pure anger
For NF I always go for chemistry/UML and depending on the circumstances i get either absorbant/coolant or gas turbine/composite and then Upgraded chassis. For BE usually Physics or Biology. Only ever go into electrical late game
I still think regen is the best armor in the game, it allows for other classes than engineers to effectively tank... and bio ML locks down infantry
