I supposed your definition of "being locked in a stalemate" is "doing fine." Are you unaware of our policy at the time? We wanted to stay out of silly European wars (WWI is a great example of a silly European war.) We still bailed you out of that one, regardless of how we joined. Are you just pulling that out of your ass? The British had a strong navy, but they hardly ruled the world... France came much closer to that. Remember Napolean? He had just about conquered all of Europe, when his army was defeated by Russian "scorched earth" policies. They don't like us because of some silly religious reason. I could go on and on about how religion is bad, but I don't feel like it.
Meh...it'll be a cold day in hell when Hillbilly is right, however, it's not likely the reason the Iraqi's hate americans is down to religion, well mainly anyway.
