I have no idea why this is happening but HL2 and any mod I get connected to it won't allow me to use Direct X9. I have direct X9 and I use it for "all" my games but I can't use it for Half-life 2 and mods, actually I can't use anything on steam with DX9 Except Counter-Strike Source.. It doesn't really create any problems for me playing with DX7 which I need to use for all games except CSS.. Except that I can't see far at all ingame.. I am like 10ft away from a chair which I can't see. then as I go up to the chair it starts to appear. Anyone know how to fix it?
right click on the games - in the steam games meny - you want to run in dx 9 > properties > set launch optins > type: -dxlevel 90
Theres nothing wrong with steam, its doing its job of pissing off the mod community while whoring out the games that Valve makes money on. Its when everything is working fine then something must be up, steam has no 'vocabulary' for the following words: work working fine perfect working condition nothing wrong If steam starts to act up and NOT cause issues you should report it to their bug report department IMMEDIATELY. XD
