Taking a look at this info page, I noticed at the bottom the "Maintenance Tunnels". What happened to this that you never implemented it? Also, what about the "anti-projectile turrets" and the refinery earthquake super weapons?

The Maintenance Tunnels don't work with the Source engine.

Krenzo said he changed his mind about adding them, they wouldn't add anything to the gameplay.

Earthquakes are easy, making tunnels isn't possible since it requires dynamic displacement modification, something that was never added (properly) into the engine.

I know how they did it, they have engine access, why else would it be a commercial game?

Natural selection 1 for half-life is a mod, made by Unknown Worlds, group of mod developers, and is free.
But, Natural selection 2 for the Source engine, made by Unknown Worlds, the company, is a commercial product, to be distributed over Steam.
You can tell by their new features, which definitely need engine access.

Maintance tunnels would work 100% without even access to the engine.

Use teleports and some sort of hatchs to block the vision. Press use on the hatch. It opens. You get dropped down a bit to an area where's another hatch under you.

You get teleported under the displacement.

The hatch under you opens and you drop to the tunnels.

    So simple is that.

Or even simpler way. Press use on the hatch, get teleported to the tunnels, that's it.

Want to get out? Run back where you got teleported, press use and you're back up.

Edit: And yes NS2 will be commercial game:

F Them... I wanted to have an awesome mod, not a game which I can't get. (I do not have a credit card. I have only bank card which has been enough.)

That's a very hacked and glitchy method that can be problematic with lag and slow internetconnections. (loss of data can result in players getting stuck in or under displacements, or worse, outside the map)

I think that requires the engine access and modification of the game engine's code .

The most you can alter in a map is the shape of displacements, and it doesn't updates the collision mesh, so there's no point in doing so.
Long story short, there is no acceptable way of doing dynamic maintenance tunnels.

It's more fun doing a mad dash between buildings anyway, dodging tanks, bullets and shells :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it might be viable with the technology introduced in portal. Either way, it would certainly be very limited.

Krenzo said he could do it with the Portal code, if they released it.

Krenzo also said that he's abandoned the "maintenance tunnels" concept altogether.

Then again, he said that before he saw Portal, I believe.
Remember, though, that the portals in Portal can be a bit stressful on hardware.
