Leave the engineers alone, they were nerfed in the past to a point where a greandier could out pistol them... They are fine right now... Just because the class is a workhorse doesnt mean you have to turn it into a mule... A rifleman can already mop the floor with any class, the rifles are powerfull and accurate compared to everything else... And in close range it is a deathray, if a rifleman gets amubshed in close range, then he should die... If it is close range fighting it should even out; though the rifleman still has his powerfull rifle... Leave the engineers alone :p
My opinion: the rifleman is plenty powerful, with a few upgrades I can out-shoot any engineer. Don't nerf the engineer. I have a different opinion about the scout (which as KT stated, is currently kind of lame) but that's being discussed elsewhere.
I've found that I can't use the rifles at close range, dunno if that's just me. The SMGs are better for that, in fact, talking of nerfing, the new NF SMG2 is so inaccurate i'm debating whether aiming backwards would be better.
I lol'ed. (I disagree, and dont have TOO much problem using the rifles at point-blank, but I still lol'ed.)
yeah smg actually is a bit too inaccurate. I wish there was come compensation, like large damage, or large clip.
I've always found it easy to kill with anything. I don't think anything needs to be changed. SMG are good at close ranges, the rifles are good at long and short. If a rifleman allows an engineer to get close, then the engineer deserves the chance to outshoot the rifleman.
SMG2 does 30 damage, almost the same as a rifle. TBH that is more than enough of a compensation for the inaccuracy. Oh and is the damn SMG3 getting removed or not? I didn't touch it for that sole reason. And about the inaccuracy when up close with rifles: when you drop down only a few inches, your accuracy WILL go to the default falling accuracy and then gradually go back to default standing accuracy using the decrement values. The problem with, for example, glycencity is that there are sooo many jumps and bumps around the place to trip and fall over, you very often lose your accuracy. And when you try and fire just after falling, your accuracy will indeed be very shitty, even when standing completely still. Again, this is one of those problems with only one variable for accuracy decrements (decrementing = better :p) while standing.
smg 3 is the best smg! i can't belive they're thinking of cutting any of the rifles, they all have such... charecter :D
Just thought I'd refresh this thread, hopefull popping it back in most everyones daily view. I'm sure its the most annoying of threads, and am now on everyones shise list <shrug> that being said...I love Nf too but I'm concerned for "balance" sake when say district loads, by the time I get in and look up at the teams ,I see NF 4 BE 2 or something to this nature. The teams eventually even out and this isn't a rant about stacking. I'm wondering if the NF AR has something to do with this? I'm easy to please but I am curious what other people see on this issue. A big sorry in advance for being the village jackass.
Be needs some sort of stupid rifle like Nf does. Granted they (BE) already have the SMG2 which in my opinion is far from being innacurate as the description says, even at longer ranges. I never use either nf or Be SMG1 . Nf has the shotty pistol, and a very nice regular pistol. Be has the equivalent to a glock and a their hi po pistol is just a loud and slow cause of death for the user. Granted I've found my niche and maybe everyones found their niche and is fine with things as they are. "hey momo" hey what?
Unfortunately for some, I balance weaponry based on classic maps and not on conquest maps. emp_escort is sometimes used aswell because it features all kinds of combat. This does mean that smaller maps like emp_district and emp_urbanchaos will feel unbalanced, but unless there are different weapon settings for each map (type) ( ), this isn't going to change.
i agree that the accuracy and damage of SMG2 for both sides (when ducked) means that at ANY range, SMG 2 is better.
Funnily enough, I changed it before to be not very accurate while crouching. I probably accidentally used a default script when making adjustments EDIT: Yup, I accidentally reverted the accuracies. Darn it. It'll be fixed in the next weapon balancing tryout.
If you have hard time to balance BE AR and NF AR, downgrade their firing rate a bit. I think that helps a lot. On other weapons, tweak the firing rate too WITH damage and I think we're good. If you need to change accuracy, change it too but after you have done those two.
Does anyone get a feeling that all weapons are much more accurate and deadlier than in 1.07? Prone, iron sights and changing weapon scripts made emp_district almost a Day Of Defeat map. I'm not saying that it's bad or anything but it's a big change (hard to notice on classical maps).
on the topic of ironsights: the BE AR and HR need big big accuracy upgrades while using ironsight. I can recall times when i have had the crosshair RIGHT on a guy that hadn't seen me (medium range) , burst fired in ironsights an entire clip (without killing him), only for him to blow me away while i reloaded. seriously- accuracy in iron sights for BE AR and HR needs to be doubled...
