Based off everyone's favorite Arma mod. :D http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/07/19/t...l-shooter-mmo-with-strong-parallels-to-day-z/ If you wanna get into beta, here is the website. http://thewarz.com/
Not sure how I feel about it. I hope it encourages Rocket (DayZ lead dev) to speed up his standalone ideas rather than just let this do it, it does seem a little less "hardcore" than DayZ, which kind of kills some of the main selling points of DayZ. It really does change things when you know you're starting 100% over if you die, people act differently. If they remove that then it isn't going to be the same. Nevertheless, I put my name down.
Seems interesting. But I somehow doubt its going to have the brutal balance of DayZ due to WarZ having a leveling system. Nothing like being fresh off the cost and killing some geared up bandits with a Makarov. Being afraid of everyone, especially players who have nothing to loose by fighting you makes game play more interesting. But none the less I'm watching to see where this goes.
Can this thread plz come back to me once dayz is in a stable state? I happened to start fresh and fill my bag, with pretty much everything a good w00kie needs, twice in the last two days, I tab out to move my loot map, tab back in 10 seconds later and find myself with the funny "you are dead! mothafuckah!" message. How come I always die in the loneliest forest, when there is noone around and noone, including me, is watching? Before I understand that, I won't even look at mods for a mod in alpha state. Is there a -windowed -noborder for arma2?
Man, if that's true, they must be mad about now. Or really happy at the free publicity they're getting. Also w00kie, I've done the same. Do you know what I learnt? Don't fucking do it.
Last chance is tomorrow I guess. Last day (Sunday) is usually given over to repeating the "best" deals, so they don't tend to do unique deals on that day. You can buy the non-steam version if you want, but it can be a pain to update. But it has been like -50% (on 80% of the original price, so it works out at even less) on Bohemia Interactive's site for over a month.
Here is more info, from a dev, about world maps and other things. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/19/the-war-z-a-new-zombie-survival-experience Sounds pretty good...almost too good.
And there's another game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6hDmwYA19M&feature=player_embedded Again, supposedly they've been working on it for a while.
However ported game A does not necessarily have to be <<<<<<< for PC developed game B. If game B is a heap of shit game, being made for PC doesn't make it better. So I'll take a good ported game over a crappy PC game.
Key lies in designing your engine right. look at telltale games, they make low res pc games and later port them to everything else. They test on PC customers and make good iPhone apps from their PC ports.
