Vista

Just sat there, waited for 2.1 to install, then it said about how it was not installed correctly, so does this mod work on vista or do I need to do something else

 

I know there are many people that have it on vista. Just search the forums for people who've had problems with it >_>

I run on Vista and it works great. Do you have all the updates?

And what're you system specs and what install order did you take?

Did you close steam when you installed Empires?

 

Just doesnt install now - everything is 'skipped'. The first time it said something about it not being installed correctly, with an option for windows to find a solution or to just say its installed correctly, and I picked the last one.

 

Mine did the same thing. But the mod still works, regardless of what Vista says about it. Have you tried playing it?

 

It doesnt show up on steam. A search for it on my pc reveals nothing either :S

 

If you have any problem related to computers it is obviously Vista. After all before Vista came computers never had any problems at all. It can never be anything besides Vista, don't worry.

if I installed it to the blabla\sourcemods\EMPIRES and not just sourcemods, would that be the reason its not actually installed at all

 

that could be...why would you mess with that and not go with the default?

 

the default was the sourcemods\empires though, which is odd. Installed but didnt show up on steam or anywhere on my pc

 

Did you install half life 2 or the source sdk base first?

Install things in this order:

Windows
Firefox (optional)
Steam
Half Life 2
Source SDK Base

*Need to close out of steam completely, if you must, ctrl+alt+del and end it through task manager.*

Run install for empires.

Restart steam. Empire should show up in the games list.

If empires still does not work, but the executable is there, go to empires in the steam games list and go to properties, then launch options and add this line, "-engine 1".

Then try again.
