'Do you really want to see a video of people whimpering and barely moving around because they're either too afraid or overwhelmed with emotion?'. The fact you had to ask this.
How accurate is the tracking on such a big scale? Can you move seamlessly in/out of vehicle simulators? It looks really impressive I'm sure someone could make some great TV with a tournament style competition too.
Vehicle simulaters are weird because you are generally allowed to get out of the vehicle whenever you want, but you haven't physically moved, so your avatar teleports back to where you got into the vehicle.
Well I guess you could have them in their own "docking port" behind a locked door that only opens when it is locked for boarding to take care of physical safety, then have them embark/disembark from the same place in the virtual world. Probably would have significant complications, someone in meatspace I guess would need to work like a fairground ride attendant and make sure people were locked in correctly and the equipment was clear before firing it up. Obviously the virtual model and the physical machine would need to be perfectly aligned and it would have to be really easy to get in and out of without trip hazards. Pretty cool though - real life star citizen!
I agree. As long as you were required to bring the vehicle back to the place where you got it, then continuity could be maintained.
How many years will it take for this to be available commercially so I can buy it and never leave my house again. Because if I can experience real paint ball in my own home, ive found my own exercise routine.
Its going to make for the most awesome company parties. Fuck virtual golf, I want to pistol whip my co-workers. Which I guess could actually be a legit problem, if you are so immersed that you can get scared or have involentary reflexes I can totally see people accidentally throwing an elbow at someone.
valid concern really, but i see it more as a "I hit a whatever on the floor and broke my leg" or "someone ran into me and broke my ribs" Your competetive nature starts and ends at the end of the tongue.
Bitch even you dont know yourself. The problem im seeing with this is that you need ALOT of space to pull that off. Many people dont exactly have giant halls of empty space and going outside with it seems really damn hazardous.
