Genius idea from valve. I can wait though going to pre-order tomorrow, even if it is quite pricey (hope its a lot longer)
who wants to bet the portal 2 release timer will be done by noon tomorrow. At the time of this writing, The Wonderful End of the World is done and the others have decent chunks finished.
This is a gorgeous idea. Valve knows they have denizens of autistic fans that will stop at nothing to eek out an extra day of Portal 2. I bet they are raking in the dough. See, that's how you make money. Instead of making you pay more money for one game, pay the same amount and get more games. Big Console just wants you to get a bunch of $15 DLCs, but Valve would prefer if you spent that money on more games! Just another reason Valve fucking rocks.
do you really think they are counting real active cores? i think they are only counting active players as "cores" but its really fun to see how organized it is when one game is done, another gets a sudden increase in CPUs
Hmm... probably is, since the Steam stats page says there's 5,5k playing Killing Floor, and the number of "Current CPUs" is about the same. Would have been cooler if they counted the real cores instead.
a core is not a cpu a cpu is a total package, whats in it is more then "1 core", a core on itself is not enough to replace a cpu
A lot of games don't utilize multiple cores. CPU is central processing unit. The unit counts all the cores
