I noticed that when an engy is gaining ranks, he gets to place more wall segments, and ultimatly a second turret. I propose that this also works with the grenader allowing him to place more mines at a time. The other classes should get some lovin' too but I am not sure what can be improved with them since they dont have any "buildings" associated with them.
If grenadiers can place more mines, then you'd end up with 12 mining people, even worse than 9 mining people.
Is that worse then an engy with 2 turrets lvl 3 turrets though? One turret on an infantry map can be a show stopper if placed in the right area. I dont really see how adding a few extra mines will do much damage. Except for the "place mines next to CV" ninja tactic.
Before 2.0 mine damage was much more powerful, allowing more mines to be placed only makes that problem return.
2.0 lowered the damage then? I noticed that mines lost their Anti-tank properties because of how armored heavies are. Even 8 mines does very little to a fully armored heavy. Now if mines did hull damage, then they would be usefull as an AT weapon. However there only use in late game is for infantry, which is kind of silly considering its an AT class.
It should be a skill if anything. because i would NOT want it. I use 9mining FAR too much to want anything more.
are you kidding Mines are super effective against tanks, especially in early-mid game. And the fact that you can place 8 makes them very scary. If they don't kill the tank, they might flip it.
Even though I disagree with what the OP proposes, I do agree that classes other than Engineer (2x turrets and surveillance) and Scouts (faster Hide) should get some sort of a bonus with their final promotion.
A heavy with full composite armor barely takes damage from 8 mines. The best you can do is hope it flips, but that is rare.
lol yeah. generally when i see a mine field and i'm in a heavy i'll deliberately run it over and then repair myself. being flipped is pretty much the only way to die.
Maybe we can bring back the sticky mine from the beta test for grens who have achieved their final rank! [noparse]:D[/noparse] For riflemen maybe Faster reload, +20 health, or enhanced body armor?
