Since cannons can be hard to aim, I'm thinking tracer rounds. Specific tracer rounds for specific cannons. Do no damage or very little. Pros:Easier cannon aiming. Cannons become more of a ranged weapon instead of a ram and shoot. Cons:Coding.
What? What do you mean tracer rounds? It's a cannon shell, it's a big smoke trailing ball of fire, you don't get more tracery than that, empires already has bizzarely visible cannon shells, what more do you want? And cannons aren't hard to aim if you simply use them a lot.
You should go to an empty server and learn how to aim if your only current strategy is to ram and fire
