Towers and Mounted Machineguns.

    An idea which makes infantry do somethings while idle in bases :P instead of wondering aimlessly I say build a tower, and then put a Machinegun on it. Which a player must mount onto it to use. (Machinegun acts like a chaingun has to reload etc etc same accuracy/dmg as chaingun.) The tower has a ladder 3 small walls on the top of the tower and a machine gun mount of each wall (so the tower only fires at 270 degrees around the tower. Unless you would like to use your own weapon. The Weapons must be upgraded by commander or he will just get a tower. If wanted automaticly have a roof on the tower or you have to upgrade a roof. (The tower should only be like 2 1/2x taller than a fully built wall.)

    You get high grounds + A machinegun.
    Looks cooler to put it behind walls.
    A comfortable sniper post.

    The problem with this is that it's nearly impossible to balance, which is why it always gets shot down. It also plays hell with map optimisation, as if you built this in a number of places in my current map, it would give you really bad FPS.

    I have suggested mounted MGs, but only as map-placeable objects, you can then balance them to make sure they are effective but not super powerful.

    Sniper towers are fine as long as the mapper balances the map for them, but he can only do that if he controls where they are placed, which he can already do by placing them himself.

    Hmmm what about limit the amount of towers like only 4 is allowed max? (For the lag part) and I also like the idea with Mounted MGs placeable accross the map.

    then spawn at the forward rax and fight? God imagine, your commanding and your whole team is in main base defending....

    I don't think you understand the problem, it is not how many you place but where you can place them.

    no player should ever be defending, always attacking. encoraging people to sit in base is bad.

    .... was my old view. but having played a few more games, i think there are definately situations such as when you are being over-run where it would be great to have such a machinegun.

    This is a fairly well thought out suggestion, but unfortunately I don't think we need more defense. this game is already quite campable.

    Also known as the Shoot-Me tower.
    The chaingun is not a very effective weapon, compared to a rifleman's AR.
    A person in a tower is as easily shot and killed as he would be on the ground.
    Ergo, I'd rather run around as a rifleman.

    I'd love to see a powerful machine gun emplacement using the mounted AR2 as a base. It would be a brilliant addition to escort and glycencity.

    What about you can upgrade/change the mounted gun on a tower? Like first machinegun you just get a Normal Chaingun (lvl1), then Medium Chaingun(lvl2) and lastly a Heavy Chaingun(lvl3)? (50/100/150 res upgrades)

    And you can also upgrade Anti Tank towers as, Light Cannon, Medium Cannon, Heavy Cannon? (100/175/300 res upgrades). (cannons crap vs infantry type of cannons (Small splash high dmg))

    Anyways placing towers in good positions can stop those "ninjas" blowing up your CV :P

    I'd say make the tower upgradable. Those in the tower would have an increased in health or armor though, so that it's not something that give you an edge in height, it should also be stragetic as well.

    You aren't paying attention, this does not resolve the issues with putting them in.

    The tower is placed like a normal building, and maybe make it slowly build up like a wall? (might accutally prove something useful instead of a shootme tower) And I do not see any issues putting it in too. I don't see any issues of a NF barracks being built. And the tower is probaly gonna be just as tall.

    (BTW: I'm not sure what your on about the issues of placing them in?)

    It's imbalanced, defensive structures can be used to exploit, it can cause lag, and it will be utter rape in certain locations.
