vmware is great. I can't say its the best since I don't use any VM but, Im working with a buddy who is using 14 diff os's on his hd to test shit for me. Takes him a minute to boot an os and switching between all the os's pretty fast and easy. I have been thinking of getting a VM for myself so I don't have to rely on him so much though. If you have recommendations I would like to see them.
I've virtualised a lot of single threaded and demanding apps (be it CPU, RAM or IOPs) and maintained baseline performance. With some decent capacity planning it is amazing what you can achieve. But everyone I've asked is all like Nooo you can't virtualise that. VMDQ and Netqueue bitches! That said I've not tried it yet but I'm interested in the results and maybe I can pull some useful stats

@PatPeter. answer to your request on g4tc forums: 95% maps are on VIPER, just no one votes for them. Blah has way to many exploits so it won't be readded to the nominations. At your request I readded bootybay to the nominations atomic and octagons. minigames is broken so I removed it. The rest have been on [VIPER] [VIPER] Empires has a new forum. Empires Main Servers? Really? That's basically Napalm's old server name, and as far as I know it belongs to Trickster now.
The only difference is they added eu to it where is epic has epic.... Bit stupid to change it to that, server politics much?
against my better judgement I'm going to repsond. you are all reading the server name not as it was intended. It's intended to mean VIPER's main empires server in europe not empires main server in europe. as for the new domain name we host empires servers, so hence the domain name. the domain name might change since we started to host other games as well.
How is it bad that you answer he to clearify you didn't mean anything bad by "stealing" a server name? But okay it's good you cleared it out edit: I thought your forums did say it was gonna be Empires Main Server? Or am I wrong here? xs
I guess I was afraid it would turn into something negative. But I will discuss the name with craig and see if he wants to name it something that would be more clear to what it is intending.
it's isn't stealing if it's just using words no one else is. If they called it [VIPER] Epic(the adjective) Server then that would be some form of stealing, that is very vague.
nothing is permanent at this time we are still buidling and working on forums etc since me and craig left g4tc. Its a bit hard to think of a formal name for the forums etc because its not a clan forum or a community forum and now that we added 2 ND servers so it changes things again. So nothing is written in stone atm.
Not quite sure of the reasoning behind the Euro Viper server. I mean until more people play empires again that is never going to get populated with the EPIC server there. The only reason VIPERS ever got populated in the first place was because Americans populated it until the early morning, and then Euros would come along and stay there. Without anyone to populate the Euro server automatically, you're going to be hosting a dead server. Bit of a waste of money IMO.
VIPER gets populated because the NA players prefer s US server which is understandable. The euro empires is there because craig has a dedi in euro now and has added empires and other games on it. The server has been populated at times since its been up.
