Now, I know this is not gonna be listened to because anyone who suggest a suggestion relative to aircraft, is not listened to, BUT, since aircraft is gonna be in empires, one day, I have to suggest this before it's too late. The anti-air tank, yes it's a tank that does anti-air stuff, and the planned idea is to have it shoot homing missiles, but that sounds really imba. The anti-air tank should use flak guns(shells with proximity explosives inside) to take them down. Why? Because homing missiles sounds like cheap ass shit. Pros: Planes cannot be downed so quickly. Explosions in the sky is cool. Makes it more competitive. Cons: No cons at all. Except that our "determined" and "answering to the public" devs might get pissed that their idea actually sucks. Alternatives: Leave a missile slot for the anti-tank for when homing missiles get researched. edit:There could be an anti-personal and anti-air tank mashed together meant for 2 purposes(killing ground units more effectively and aircraft more effectively) with amazing rate of fire that is unmatched by any other gun.(but it does no damage to buildings and armor units)
I agree but isn't it planned anyway, as in it can't be discussed anymore? You might be the wrong person to ask as i've completely lost which of the 3 Kane's is the dev Kane by now.
id say give the jeep a 1 slot special anti air cannon/missile , and give 1 of them to the afv1/light1 something like a vertically fired "fire and forget" missile? or a vertically aimed machine gun? maybe even a machine gun that can be used on infantry and aircraft? no need for chassis, and the light chassis get a purpuse late game (airplane hunting)
We can have anti-air weapons. Special Machineguns, Gauss Guns, Homing and Guided Missile Launchers, RPGs with homing,
Fine then, I guess we must rely on turrets, that guy with awesome aim on the rpg, and fighter jets to down aircraft around the base.
Didn't Megel make a NF AA tank? It was like a pickup with a massive AA turret on the back, it was lulz. If it wasn't him then it was someone else, I definately remember a model.
I fucking loved that vehicle. I hope that it will be implented some day. Kane, you know that aircraft flies above tanks? It would be very hard to shoot down, especially in one versus one situations, as the turret of tanks can't be aimed upwards. I could imagine APCs being used as anti air craft vehicles, but I'd rather see seperate vehicle for that.
Anti-aircraft vehicles are also pretty good against light vehicles and occasionally structures, but some cant aim very low (like how the AFV sucks against light tanks), so they would be restricted to AA. for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gepard_1a2_overview.jpg
Finally I got some reinforcements on my idea. awesome seeing this, oh and my idea of the anti-air tank was kinda what vaun here linked to.(looks a bit like the one from Advance wars.)
I suggest we just make the tanks have more durable turrets so they can look up more higher at the sky.
Look, to get this out to a lot of people in this thread. THEY ARE MAKING AA TANKS, I'M NOT SUGGESTING THEM, I'M SUGGESTING THAT INSTEAD OF IMBA HOMING MISSILES THEY GET FLAK GUNS/VULCANS. kthx.
Nah, making tanks fire more or less verticly isn't too good of an idea. Tanks are made to kill heavily armored targets and demolish buildings, they would probably do rediculous damage to aircraft (in a lot of games, a single tank shell with destroy a helicopter, because it really would), making only the MG fire at a high angle, and given the seeking nature of some missiles, that should be fine aside from the other fieldable AA devices (turrets or flak trucks). Tanks shouldn't be inately able to fight aircraft effectively unless the enemy pilots suck or youre armed to fight flying targets.
