The [1337]-Clan

We are a german-only clan (cause of communication, timezones and so on) and we usually let everyone in as long as he is obeying some easy rules.
We have currently about 6-8 players.

64 slots doesn't mean the server can handle 64 people. It starts to cry before it even reaches 32.

 

i like this clan and people in it.. anytime i play with any of the members they are polite and pretty cool

ye right, but empires is so impressiv well coded that every server would crash with 18-20 players.

The Empires Federation Battlegrounds server could handle 32 players... it has a crazy expensive connection to the internet which can handle that kind of traffic.

 

Its not the traffic, the bugs kills any server anyway.

Magge, are you using the windows server or the linux server? The windows server has many fewer bugs than the linux server.

The downside: it doesn't automatically restart if it does crash (though it wont crash)

Remedy: there is free software available to make it restart automatically

 

well, i have a linux root and if the server crash, it will start automatically again.

 

Gotcha. I just meant the windows server install is much less buggy.

Not everyone, but that's basically how it works.

 

Well cover me with pasta sauce and call me cuisine. That's some dedication, right there. Per month, too . Any sort of income from advertising, or some way to reduce the fees? It's practically a public service, right now.

 

its $60 per clan, and the money comes generally from the members from what i recall. i know someone had a video thingy where everytime someone watched it he got a buck to put toward the server.
