Only vote if you are planning on using the server

I was planning on only having the test server put up during testing sessions but when I went to shut it down this morning I noticed that a few people (silk and ddd) have been using it to test on.

Simple question, will I keep the server up all the time (it might not work sometimes due to the way the beta and the server update) or will I just create a working version for during tests?

Sorry, I kinda voted before reading the post. It's an unconscious reaction, totally not my fault.

It was to verify stuff Silk found during the PUG, I'm not sure if it's very useful.

My question would be how much does having the test server up all the time impact other things running on the EPIC box? If there's a noticeable effect on how other things run, then it seems to be in everyone's best interest to only have it up when needed. However, if there's little to no effect other things, then I would believe that the chance of some good coming out of it outweighs the amount of strain it puts on other processes.

I'm pretty sure an empty server idling isnt going to have much effect candles. Im not 100% though so I'll check with trickster

I would assume as much, but in my perspective that's what the whole question boils down to.

Yeah we have like 5 other servers idling, I wouldn't worry.

I don't think anyone has played on the TF2 MVM servers since 3 weeks after they released that game mode, and I'm fairly sure the L4D2 server has been used like once.

If it doesn't cost money or slows other stuff down ... i say keep it running for a while. After some time you can always check back if it has been used at all and redecide

If it does though, i'd shut it down inbetween test sessions
