    I have finished the beta of my teamwork script

    to the commander, the game will look like Company of Heroes. All his squads will be together and they get reinforced every 16 seconds(can be changed)

    for the soldiers, if they stray more than 1500 feet from their squadleader, they get a warning in 8 seconds. if another 8 seconds pass and they are not inside of 1500 feet, they teleport near their squadleader: exposing his identity to the snipers. If the leader dies, his team teleports to his new location after he has spawned.

    benefits:
    commander has more fun with a "company of heroes" style gameplay
    soldiers will always be in the heat of battle or moving to flank with their squad.

    cons:
    it is in earliest beta stage. so anything goes

    coming soon:
    the squadleader can choose his own sergeant.(or be his own)
    forces players to join a squad.
    commander can set a time limit for the squad to reach their objective.
    open for suggestions


    Im curious to see how this will look like in a full server. please join my server and try it out!

    Squad leader scouts past all defenses with a squad full of grens, he gains distance and his squad gets teleported. He sneaks to cv stuns and gg

    That typo gave me another idea


    Comm gets in cv as squad lead, and drives to enemy cv with his squad constantly being teleported on his ass

    slay will aggravate players more than a tele.
    plus, in CoH, if one guy falls behind, he teles to the rest of the squad.

    the system is made so that the squad cannot split up AT ALL, just like CoH
    if u havent noticed, i love company of heroes.

    the tele happens every 8 to 16 seconds. while the scout is crawling, his teammates will die. they will keep teleing to him as he crawls, but the massive amount of death required to pass is not beneficial to the team.

    i could potentially fix any exploit, just tell me about it.

    Does the tele check that the character is in the same room as the squad leader and doesn't land on top of some impossible-to-climb-object?

    no, but the tele puts the player as close to the leaders as possible without getting stuck in him.

    sofar i have 2 possible exploits i need to fix:

    the early bf2 squadhop exploit.

    You'll want to include some mechanism for squadleader selection/voting/kickvoting or otherwise dealing with SLs who just ruin the day for their squad.

    well there are 26 squads. enough for every player on a team.
    but ill put that on the list as well

    I love CoH too. I'd like to see some form of the CoH system for resources in Empires. Actual territorial control, not just refs.

    i dont think i can do that tho...

    My next step is to implement a way to force the squadleaders to follow the commander's objective.


    any ideas on how to make it enjoyable for both parties?

    I don't see this going too well with tanks.

    Can you chose to not be in a squad and still play?

    if u get in a tank, you dont teleport

    no you are not forced to join a squad. you are only pestered by a lil msg.

    Probably easier to just allow the Com to kick squadleaders that are slow or refuse orders. Kick them from the squadleader slot that is, not kick them from the game.
    Perhaps have an elapsed timer tick after the Com issues a squad order, which the squadleader can see. Have a light-up message or something be seen in the Com screen when the timer elapses or comes close to elapsing, to remind the Com.

    A reward-based method would be allow the com to drop health and ammo crates, or even air-drop vehicles on the squad leader's position.

    Too much railroading and the mod won't be fun because the players will be forced to be the Com's bots.


    EDIT: I logged into your server last night, but it was empty. Maybe you can get this thread stickied to the general discussion forum or something, so more players no what and where.

    if i could get a sticky that would be awesome. we will all be able to see how players react to forced teamwork. If it is positive, it could be included in the mod itself?

    Another thought for a 'carrot' in the squad leader system: After a couple minutes into the match, enable the Com to designate one squad as the team's "elite" squad, say every 5 minutes. They get the squad bonus points at a faster rate (maybe double rate). That might actually result in competition to be the better squad.

    One other thought, and I hate this one, but I think it'll work: Enable limited wallhacks (the Enhanced Senses and multi-targets that the Commander Shift-A's to highlight) as a passive benefit to being within range of the squad leader.

    One more, pretty extreme: Rogue squad members can't check vehicles out of a VF or use an Armory.

    Skill points, Wallhacks, and Vehicles/armories are the three crucial FPS elements of Empires, I believe. Repackaging them into carrot-reward form will keep squads together, I believe.

    For a simple stick-punishment, auto-boot squad members from a squad when they been squad-teleported more than a few times.

    For lone-wulfs, if you don't like them:
    If you really want to be mean, players that aren't a member of a squad can't use the VF or Armory.
    Or even, all players logging in to a team are auto-assigned to a squad, and can only swap between squads.
    Or auto-teleport them to the position of the elite team's squad (might be exploitable), or back to the CV vehicle, after about a minute.
