No, seriously, you don't know how to drive. :p Getting used to the rollbars isn't an argument. Technically, people can get used to everything, including killing and being abused. The rolbars obstruct the view greatly. They do. Have you ever seen a vehicle with rollbars right in the drivers fucking face? No? Why? People could get used to it after all.
The rollbars are a fucking problem, and it's very unfortunate that they indeed currently are part of the jeep. "People will get used to it" isn't a solution - that's just BS. Yeah, people can "get used to" annoying things, like they can get used to server crashes, etc. With your philosophy, we could just leave every bug and annoyance in the game, on basis that newcomers will learn that these problems are "normal". I mean, the old players are just silly conservatives!
I can see four possible solutions: Move the model view point up slightly - This is where it used to be, and nobody complained about it then. Give jeeps a third-person view - The driver isn't firing any weapons, so crosshairs aren't a problem. It would work exactly like third person spec view. Remove the roll bars from the model - This carries the obvious disadvantage that it requires further modelling. Give the roll-bars some secondary advantage - Such as giving the passengers more protection. Really, this would involve making the BE jeep passengers more vulnerable, possibly allowing them to be targetted by MG turrets.
I think the jeep should retain it's rollbars, removing them isn't good in my opinion, changing them a little would be enough. However, all those ideas are fine. 1 should be really easy to do (model recompile).
Then put the seat in the middle and have the NF jeep with 3 seats. Maybe with plating for extra driver protection on the sides?
The NF jeep can hold four people, the BE jeep two. The BE driver can see what he's doing. The NF driver can't. Live with it.
That's exactly what people are doing, while they wait for the obvious (not to mention clearly unintended) problem to be fixed.
