Does bigger map size mean performance drop? I see that currently District has the largest file size of all the maps in 1.08, pushing 75mb. But probably because of its smaller size as compared to open maps, I get better FPS on it than I do on other maps (comparable perhaps to Escort or UrbanChaos). Loading time would most likely suffer though. IMHO, any file size increase would be worth it.
Surround the current area of the map with high buildings in 3D skybox. That makes it look like there's a real wall in front of you and you can't see through it nor walk through it. Also that doesn't require so much buildings in the 3D skybox then.
not giant buildings, but a few off in the distance or something... think about when you play HL2, there's always something a long way off to look at. i just think it might be nice. also any chance that way off in the background there is a dropship that flys past, perhaps damien could give you a sneaky peak with one of his new ships and have that flying across in the background.
Normally there are skyscrapers in the center of any city. So why not in here too? At least I think this is somewhere near the center of a city.
It's the downtown of the city, skycrapers are in the distance at most, but you wouldn't see them anyway with all the fog.
I really don't think rooftop access would improve the map at all. Perhaps some first-story interiors could be connected together, if people really want yet another level to fight on.
One thing I'd like to do is make the sewers not allow engineers to build in them as well as around the grates and exits.
I tried to do that, but i decided to remove the brushes after i realised you could still build inside them while not standing in them, and a large brush preventing engineer building wouldn't be fun for players.
The problem is not many people seem to use the sewers. You see people stalemated fighting above, so why don't they go below and try to get behind them?
if you make the sewers a place where buildings cant be placed it would be easier.. rite now its just cams and level 3 mgs spammed down there
the problem imo is that camras will detect you and anyone else down there before you come up to street level, meaning that it's more than piss easy for them to just sit and watch the grill until you shoot it out and come through. meanwhile, if they put a camra under you they have no idea if the diamonds on top are watching the manholes or not. now i LOVE the grills... i really don't want them to go. personally i'd rather see camras go... this map is too small for them and it's ruins all the surprises.
Wouldn't it be better to have cameras have a certain limit with how low/high they can detect objects?
