after loading a map sometimes my arcs disappear
no clue why. Just stupid standart arcs builded with the arc brush tool.

Oh and sometimes my visgroups disappear after loading the map in hammer.

Only use block brushes. Everything else is generally buggy.

I thought the arch tool worked fine?

That is strange behaviour tho, Ive never had anythign randomly disapear. Are you sure they are valid objects or have you done freaky stuff to them? Check for invalids in Map > Check for problems.

Ive never had visgroups disapear though, except wehn Ive deleted all the objects from that visgroup, it automatically gets removed from the list.

The only reason I could see not using the arch tools is that the vertex points are not normal on the grid perfect. Just move them around to fit the grid and there you go.

    ok
i make some archs with the tool
    save my map
    load it
and theres a chance that the arch is A) totaly fucked up or B) disappear

    I did nothing to them
    NOTHING
    I just moved them sometimes

you can adjust everything in the arch dialoge menu so u dont need to
    do anything after creation.

    ------------------------

After loading the map it says sometimes, bla bla brushes in no vis group I put them in a "orphan visgroup"

load the map, place the arches, and press alt+P (or is it ctrl+p, OR is it even P at all, i can't remember). It checks the map for errors, see what it shows up, and click "go to object" and see if its your arch. If just click fix.

Err, the arch tool doesn't creates broken brushes if the brush you make is on grid, i use the arch tool to create circular roads not ending in a single point on the inside of the turn. In fact, i i've never had any real problems with it, except that it moves the brush upon creation.

I stick by what I said. Avoid using anything but blocks. If you can't carve it, you should get a model or make it with displacements.

You use carve? When did you start with level design, 1 day ago? Carve is evil, it's the first thing you learn.

Just to clarify, are you opening the .vmf file, or the .map file? I think it's possible for hammer to open .maps, but they don't always do so correctly (or am I just talking out of my ass?)

arc = bad. spheres = bad

    hammer sucks at circles.

Not really. Subdivide a cube of displacements and you get a pretty good sphere.

The sphere tool, as well as the torus tool are expert tools, i suggest finding a workaround (spheres should be models or displacements).
The arch tools is great, it has no flaws unless you don't use it properly.

I work now on a different computer and the problem with the arch tool
only appears on the pc I used bevor.
So I guess that its a prob with the hammer installation on the pc
    or something similar
