Valve has uploaded GCFs to Steam. They're more or less the last ones we tested. But just to make sure we'll test them again. If you tested before: You SHOULD NOT have steam.cfg in your Steam folder. Having access to the game last time should be all that you have to do. 1. Remove steam.cfg 2. Remove all local files (either manually - GCFS or from Steam - delete local content) 3. Restart Steam 4. Click on Empires in list of your games and start downloading it. If you're new: Contact me on Steam or IRC so I can add you to Steam tester group. Then just restart Steam and install. Precise time of the playtest will be announced using Steam groups. Playtest should last few hours so don't worry if you'll be early/late. I can't post it on Steam at the moment. GMT time is here: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/
You need to be on tester list I think. Empty didn't see the game until he was added to Empires "publisher" list. I need your Steam account name through forum PM or on Steam.
Things I've noticed: The resource rock in dam on mvalley is an error logo The weapon switch animations are heavy enough that if I roll my mouse wheel I can lag out my computer, doubling my ping and slideshowing the game (down from 70fps). The bridges on mvalley are pretty, but 30fps isn't worth it (70 -> 40 fps while driving over them) and the stairs on the BE vf are somehow not-quite-right because they make you bounce going in (which doesn't matter at all, but polish is always nice).
I put in a cull for them, they shouldn't render or even compute if you're further than 1000 units (which isn't far) Unless it's using an old version.
I dropped my html gui because of less then half the fps you are losing on that water. I admit its really fucking pretty, but please go and and fix the fps drop. Also we shouldnt be disussing it here.
