When your squad mates get points you get 1/5th or 1/10th (can't remember the exact number) of a point. So every 5 or 10 kills they get you get a point. Same goes for engineer points and so on.
what he said. you can see how many "squad points" you have on the top of the list of ppl in your squad. and isnt it 1 point for every 3 squad points?
I didn't know the exact ratio of that, there should be squads that need their way "earnt" in, where perhaps this bonus is upgraded, say, you need 10 points per time you can join a better squad.
Say you join a level 1 squad, you get a point every 10 general kills a team makes, when the leader gets 10 points, the leader could upgrade the team to get a point every 8 kills, then perhaps 6, then every 3 kills. So eventually points flow in.
oooh, i like it. the only problem i could see would be why everyone wouldnt join 1 massive squad with the whole team on it. think of a way to stop that and it would be golden.
You could always just limit a squad to have a maximum of 5 people. That could easily stop the whole team from joining one squad. Dunno how easy that would be to code though I don't think that would be too hard.
Speaking of squads... a new and improved way of joining or inviting someone into a squad would be nice. Not that it's really hard to make a squad, but it's an extra hassle we really don't need (if it's not easy as hell to code it's not a biggie tho)
Thor: I thought there was a limit, maybe around 7 or 8 Hikuso: Check out this thread http://empires.cw-hosting.net/showthread.php?t=900 People don't seem to mind that too much.
At the moment it would be bad. You wouldn't probably get any squad at all. Or get 10 single person squads or 5x2 but that wouldn't change anything (in terms of teamplay).
IMO you should only get participation points if you were actually nearby when the kill occured. As it is, you could be the other side of the map and not assist at all, and yet still get the squad point.
Participation points when near (if it's possible to implement without adding load to server's CPU). But no squad size limits.
Perhaps allow the comm to assign people to squads, pending the acceptance of the person to be added? So the comm tries to add Todd[E-42nd] to Squad B. Now, somewhere under my f menu thingy I can choose to accept the squad transfer. This would allow, at the start of the game, the engineers to run straight for their stuff and let the comm add them.
I'm for commander squad management, but imagine, the morons are going to spam people, and then combat will be filled with nothing but "I REQUEST YOU JOIN MY SQUAD!".
Only a noob comm would spam his subordinates, or an asshole one. That's why the "vote out" button's there :-P
