30 Second Review (without spoilers): As movies in general go, average. As the Spider-Man franchise goes, pretty bad. Frankly, I thought it was pretty good, but compared to the first two, it just didn't live up to snuff. It wasn't X-Men 3 bad, or Batman 2-3 bad, but it could have used some work. There were some plot holes and the Sandman was completely superfluous. Three villains=too many villains, not enough character development. And I REALLY really REALLY wanted to like it. Totally worth renting, but not worth going to see at 12:05 midnight, opening night. They could have scrapped the whole sandman thing altogether and focused on Spidey's relationship with the two other villains, both of whom he has a complicated past with. What's with this sandman guy? He just pops out of nowhere, and they re-write the first movie to fit him in the script. Then his character completely flip flops on practically every issue in every scene that he's in. Not consistent. Special effects were awesome, though.
Open for a part 4 or a closed done deal ala xmen3? Will i get a great satisfaction of watching this right after seeing the first movie? (I am disregarding the second)
X-Men 3 is hardly closed done. If you watched all the way through the credits (who the hell does?!) then you see the guy Xavier was lecturing on, who has no soul, suddenly wakes up, utters the doctor's name who is standing next to him, and has Stewart's voice.... I HATED X-Men 3....
I hope Christopher Young has picked up the musical scoring ball where Danny Elfman left off. How was the score Lobster? Good? Yay? Nay?
I liked xmen 3. A lot more than I liked xmen 2. Spiderman series was lost to me with the 2nd film though. Too much screaming women, emo parker and crappy ending. Doc oc was the only good thing about spiderman 2 imo and from what you've said, it doesn't sound like spiderman 3 is going to be any beter =o
lol, I barely remember Spiderman 2 (& what do remember is mainly from the videogame, & they always change the story to add gameplay elements ). Not sure I'll watch this one though, I might rent it when it comes out on DVD though...
Simpsons movie ftw :p Got no interest in seeing spidey 3 and even less after reading this. Looks like I might have to go with the gf tho =/
Spoilers! I just went to see it with a load of friends, and it was hilarious. Not in a particularly good way though. e.g. "I loved your father, Harry". How else were we meant to take that :p. Also, WTF was venom about? Oh shit, bells? ARGH! And we did the customary slow clap when Peter hit MJ. And then we laughed. All in all, a good film to watch with friends, not so good on your own.
yeah, what he said. spoilers! Apparently, the venom suit makes someone "bad" by turning them into a gigantic duesche, and that's about it. What's with the costume?! He's becomes bad, so he wears his pants too tight and then gets a terrible haircut? He just prances around acting like a jerk... OH NO!!! SO EVIL!
And everyone was always crying! I swear, either I was in a soap opera, or the movie's entire craft services's table was covered with chopped up onions throughout the filming!
They killed off venom. 0/10. No, it doesn't even deserve that high of a score. Because of Venom's death, Carnage can't appear and no Carnage vs Venom They killed the movie series, and they're planning on releasing THREE MORE SEQUALS None of the Sinister Six are as awesome as Venom/Carnage
they kill off a cool character like venom, and yet somehow the Sandman lives?! That's like the exact opposite of what should have happened!!!
This movie was crap. Good thing I had Reese's Pieces But then I had to share them with my friends so that makes the movie worse.
Doc Oc Saved the second movie (Just barely though, it almost hit the floor and sploded); the first one was a novelty... Seems like this one has NOTHING going for it..
Is it just me, or does Kirsten Dunst get uglier with each new movie? Either way she still sucks at acting.
