I would like to be able to dive forwards and roll left/right. If you've played The Specialists (HL1 mod - http://specialistsmod.net/), you will surely know what I mean then. There would be a special key for special moves. Pressing this key while sprinting would make you jump so, that you would fly at a high speed, leaning forwards a lot (what diving looks like). Once you landed, you would do a somerset. All this should consume about 5-6 stamina bars. Pressing the special move key while strafing left/right would make you slightly jump sidewards and do a somerset. If you held down the key, you'd do two (or more?) somersets. This should take slightly less stamina energy than the forward dive, as you wouldn't jump nearly as much, but rather, roll. These moves would - aside from adding to the fun factor greatly - allow moving from cover to another much more safely. You could also jump across longer pits, or save yourself from a grenade. Rolling would allow you to dive past corridor crossings etc. to check if there are any enemies behind the corner. They would counter the possible slight gameplay slowdown, too, if proning is going to be added. Also, before someone starts -
Man, TS was awesome. I don't really think it would be necessary here though as heavy equipment like the infantry has will not allow them to dive like they did. I think prone is a fine idea though, but don't take it too far.
I don't mean such acrobat jumps like in TS, but surely if you had a grenade thrown near you, you would dive-jump away from it if possible, as far as the weight of your equipment would allow.
In UT '99, those damn dodge moves would always cause me to accidently dive off a cliff until I turned them off.
I knew somebody would say that And Jkun, simply sprinting or strafing and then pressing one, certain button, is far away from doing these left-right-down-right-up-left-left-jump-HADOKEN things
That would just make nobody want to use them, or even able to; when you're in the middle of combat, you run quite a bit and have low stamina. 1/3 would still be acceptable to me.
cant we have a "run-duck-superjump" like in halflife 1 when you get the jumping suit? but less powerfull ofcourse somthing like a leap landing on flat belly, taking 60%/80% of your stamania, special to dodge granades and shells
Or just implement the pick-up-and-throw-back thing mentioned in one of the other threads.. That would remove the need for a special move and also remove nadespam (as all your thrown grenades will get a boomerang effect :D)
I'd like this to be limited just to the Scout since his strength SHOULD be ablity and having this along with the increased stamina(standard) to the Scout would make him much better at avoiding infantry conflicts, and for the Engineer only less effective so you could duck and roll to get to Corpses and such. Rifleman and Grenadir should get have the ablity, but have it be a rarely useable and would be combersome, good for cover diving, but not for assaulting or popping out from cover.
Has anyone else noticed that you can't crouch-jump in this mod. It's really weird when trying to climb buildings when you have to jump-crouch instead
It's Source not Empires. You're ducked down holding the key while moving toward, that's holidng two keys down and the Engine can't pick up more than that. Try ducking down and refilling at a supply box, you can't push 1-4 to switch weapons. And besides, I don't see how Crouch-Jumping is of any use, Jump-Duck is ALWAYS better since you get up higher and get a smaller profile. EDIT: Yayz, someone read my suggestion!
LOL anyways Crouch-Jumping (although I don't believe he meant that) is needed to get into small area near the ground but just high enough to not let you walk into it. So it's not always better to jump-duck, because that would make you get into high small places.... Although I also don't see the need for this in this mod
- going across crossings/T-junctions/whatever in emp_district or advancing from behind a crate/support to behind another in a turret-filled street - saving yourself from a grenade/grenade spam (not like you're going to start throwing 3069305 grenades back at the enemy) - possible future maps set inside buildings would see use
