So, Wikipedia is down (or just do this and use Wikipedia like normal) and loads of other sites are protesting and shit's starting to get intense. I actually feel this has a possibility to get passed, even with all the protests. (Since US politicians are cunts.)
Apparently Obama shelved SOPA but it's going to get discussed again in February. Congress is made up of a around 450 people who can't even use computers and have no idea how the internet works, so neither bill would work.
That wouldn't stop me from abusing the fuck out of the bills were they to be passed to get rid of sites I don't like :p
Well, if SOPA gets passed, you better fucking believe that we will bring that website down. Censorship is a bitch.
They will pass these bills in december and anons will be mad and they will hack into nuke launch sites and nuke the world and the world will nuke the rest and they will end the world omg it all makes sense now
http://www.ted.com/talks/defend_our_freedom_to_share_or_why_sopa_is_a_bad_idea.html In short: They won't pass it this year, but they'll write another one next year.
Censoring domains and make any interaction with illegal operating sites illegal aswell? Don't worry it's not the US starting this new censorship wave, we already have it here since 2 or so years... hardly effects any other countries tho :p It's not like we have to use american based search engines like google, if google rots in hell and the US gov looses billions of $ taxes i couldn't give less of a shit. I already see the new headlines "North Korea launches Nookle; 1 million users counted on day one; Kim Jong-un celebrated liberator of the internet!"
Norway is working on a similar law. They say it's "not that harsh" as SOPA and PIPA, but how knows what these lying cunts can come up with.
what country you in kane? Can I go post a few dozen illegal torrents on sites you frequent and make calls to have the sites taken down?
You could do that I s'pose but i doubt it would work that fast, after all public servants are slooowww and mostly interested in bigger "threats", also it would be your ass on the line aswell for trying to actually damage someones buisness ... and no, neither SOPA nor any law can take sites down as long as they are not in the country in which they or their owner can be pursuit. SOPA is about censorship of sites which are not .org.com.net and stopping any interaction with illegal sites, not about taking down the actual site, remember? Illegal MEANS against the law, i doubt there's any country which allows anything to go against their laws, this is utterly absurd.
I didn't mean for america to demand the take down I meant for your country to demand the take down since you said...
Huh I pretty much answered excactly that ... ?! ANY country isn't allowed to take down any site which is not stationed or where the owner of that site is not able to be prosecuted within the same country or countries which have a prosecution treaty with said country. Taking sites down within your own country for illegal content is just common in every single country on the whole world, the definition of what is illegal and what not may differ from 0% to 100% though. (In sweeden you might have to link to some porn of their general of the army on top of some crazy secret world domination plan or smth idk) Of course there might be a warning or 2, depending on case and country, but if the site goes against the law, what do you expect to happen? SOPA is about censoring sites which your government or their little buddys, the media companies, do not agree with, the same shit we already got.
