Since I am not the most experienced of commanders (I do know something, but I don't do it very often), I would like to know why plasma is almost never researched. Plasma MG is amazingly useful, as you're able to stall almost any vehicle with it. Also, the plasma shell has a nice blast radius and is a nice late-game addition to BE, when rails fail against NF absorbant. So, whats wrong? Is it too expensive? Or just overlooked?
True; plasma does little dmg (the MG does none), but it feels like a good way to stop those abs. NF missile barges dead in their tracks. Guess its more of a luxury if you have the rez.
Actually, they're more effective against tanks with cannons as missiles doesn't really require that much heat to be fired .
My point is more towards the absorbant armor that any late-game NF should have against rails. It gets eaten by plasma.
Needs to set infantry on fire and do reasonable amounts of damage over a short time to tanks. However, to compensate, it should be useless against buildings.
And what special roll will bio then fill, fast plasma? No plasma should keep its over heating roll but get buffed.
It should rather make tanks stall without overheating them, making them unable to move if you keep hitting them, but they still can fire back.
Plasma requires skill to use (i.e. if you miss too many shots you still get overheated but the enemy does not). Plasma is only useful when you overheat the enemy first. It's too easy for a team of pubbers to rush forward, overheat, die, repeat for comms to research.
It is ridiclious, Plasma is superheated compressed Ionised Gas, it can reach temperatures up to millions, sometimes billions of degrees. If modern armies were able to use Plasma shells they would become the most powerfull weapon after Nukes. Plasma would vaporize armour, it would burn infantry, buildings would turn into ash and vehicles would melt. I agree that there is a chance that your tank get's overheated by the time you have fired 5 Plasma shots, but at that time you don't even need too worry because you have allready turned the enemy tank into ash. Plasma should be the most powerfull weapons in the games(Yes, even more powerfull then HE or HIT's) It is rediclious, Plasma in empires deals almost no damage to an enemy tank.
Ok, seriously now. The center of the sun is 15,600,000K. Are you ACTUALLY trying to suggest that these puny vehicles are firing something over 60 times hotter than the center of the SUN? Follow this logic: 1. Plasma is hot. 2. There is a weapon firing plasma. 3. The weapon holds many bullets, and we can probably assume they don't heat up instantly. 4. The weapon firing this plasma must be able to somehow withstand the heat. 5. The shells travel THROUGH the air to their destination target. 6. Being exposed to open air would not heat the plasma any further, and more likely cool it somewhat. 7. A vehicle could very possibly be made of a similar or stronger material as the weapon firing plasma rounds. 8. ??? 9. OMG VEHICLE IS MAGICALLY TURNED INTO ASHES FROM JUST A FEW HITS! Physics: nukes create their own heat through runaway fission reactions. Chemistry: conventional (non-nuclear) bombs can blow up entire city blocks. Electrical: Have you ever actually SEEN what a railgun is capable of? In terms of realism, plasma is by far NOT the most powerful weapon. Also, this has been said so many times that it's not even funny anymore: "EMPIRES IS NOT A REALISTIC MOD!"
the problem with that is we can't have six shooters anymore and it would still be useless and/or shit
No the problem is that it need's to do more heat to the enemy, and it is to easy for noobs to die using plasma.
