The friction is defined in the texture, and most mappers are too retarded to figure out how to change it. I was going to for king but I forgot.
I live an hour away from tahoe and go snow boarding all the time. An hour from nice beaches too. Cali has every kind of weather.
Today on IRC: (@Kylegar) msieradzki (@msieradzki) ? (@Kylegar) we should remove the slidingness from the snow textures (@Kylegar) it's crap (@Kylegar) and it doesn't add to gameplay at all (@msieradzki) it's in default snow textures? (@Kylegar) yes (@msieradzki) I agree (@Kylegar) it's part of the material
agreed but keep that ice pond thats super slipperly in the middle of that one snow map with nukes. Its fun to slide across.
No I live in Richmond but still like 45 mins from tahoe. Also roads can be slippery but I think it really makes snow maps suck when everything is slippery. It really makes the speed upgrade frustrating.
The snow in frost was not slippery, and i can' remember having to do something to make it so. On the contrary, to make the ice bridge slippery i had to look up what to add. But really what snowmaps ? I only know of glycen and that one's not slippery.
Oh hell yea it is. Glycen is the worst, you get hit by anything and the pushback knocks you across the freaking map. It was really bad when prone knockback was so far back. anyway, I went through and removed $surfaceprop "snow" from all the snow textures. You should no longer slide in snow.
You did replace it with something else didn't you? I'll have to get trickster to update king with it.
That confused the fuck out of me so i tested this ingame. The snow in glycen behaves exactly likes grass or dirt to me. When i stop pressing forward he immediately stops. I can't get him to slide even a millimeter.
Then it suggests you have a version of the material without the snow setting, if the server does have the snow property it will override yours.
There's a bunch of slippery snow maps that are always on unfortunately when I play. One is the shandy map that has the blimp and the other is the one with the nukes. I can't remember the name of either.
Everyone I know online lives near nice beaches (and bitches for that matter). Every beach in toronto looks like cancer.
