i prefer 5vs5 myself. or 2vs2vs2vs2vs2. FFA gets some bullshit results, like all 9 players gang up on 1.
5v5 would be epic. Although it might be too epic. 3v3 as it is can take hours, sometimes even a day. 5v5 on a huge galaxy could take a week. If we're gonna do this, we'd better do this before my vacations runs out in 3 weeks.
Anyone thats not named KnightTemplar raise your hand if you bought the game. Though I will in the future. It's such an awesome game that you HAVE to support them.
I want to buy it, I really do, but lack of funds means I'm pirate only for the next few months. My wallet must recover from this vacation. Disney World, the prices burn!
lol:p So, instead of tracking Mobygames about this game, tell me about it like you're a kid speaking about WoW. Why is it good?
The game is absolutely epic and massive. The biggest thing is that they pulled off the scale without overwhelming the player. Its typical to be fighting at 3+ planets at the same time, hopping from one to the other directing units, but it doesnt overwhelm you. It's stupid simple, in a good way. On top of that, the depth of research is amazing. You have at least 4 trees, ranging from military to civilian, and the advancement for pre-requisites is different too. A number of researches can be done multiple times, increasing the level of that research, and depending on the level of that technology, you may gain access to another research item. For example, theres a cannon thats a top level research item, it takes countless pre-requisites at varying levels to unlock, yet the wait is worth it, its capable of striking distant planets. The little things, that all stack together, make it amazing.
It's actually 6 trees total, with many of the researches being multi-level (+10%hp - +15%hp all at one teir) Oh and there are 8 tiers of research depending on how many research centres you've built. And since you can only build a certain amount per planet, you're forced to expand if you ever want the delicious higher-level reserach
I got myself to finally uninstall this piece of shit, its nice in theory and a nice showcase on how future rts 4x could be, but damn this is just a rts with all the fun sucked out of it and a 4x with almost no 4x. If I wanted to spend 5 hours scrolling in and out I'd just scan a centerfold at 4k DPI.
Yeah, it's very flexible. I can even run it on my laptop when I'm out and aboot. It's a lag-fest, but it runs.
