it's still there if you want it, nobody likes it though because the layout is terrible. The idea is unique though, I've had a few good rounds. A bit annoying only having one spawn point that's so far underwater you drown before you reach the surface though.
Once Shandy is done with his classes for this semester (2-3 more weeks) he's going to start mapping again over the summer, so expect a new empirescup, rainbowroad, etc... over the summer along with many more textures and shit to come
Sinking was only ever fun for one reason. It sunk. Then they removed the sinking island and called t "Atoll". I'll admit that the only reason the map was fun was because it was exploitable because of the submarine tactic, however if a map was only fun because of exploiting, it probably won't be a fun map without them. Atoll sucks, soz.
Or the entire team stay repairing it. Then 1 hidden scout with melee upgrade swims in and kills them all. Ah... good times.
I'd like it if they changed the water to do something like 60 damage a second, so people couldn't submarine. Had a horrible game that lasted for over an hour, with NF in thier vf under water repairing like crazy.
True story of sinking - The most epic sinking game ever. I was commander on NF, and we used the sub tactic. I quickly researched lvl 3's and built a ton of lvl 3 MG's around the base. After nearly an hour of the submarine tactic, forcing my team to slave around the CV and repair, I lef the comm and went to the surface. When I managed to get a breath of air, I had alpha give me their squad lead, and I spent the next the 20 minutes crawling up around the mountain to the center, finding that their commander was trapped while trying to climb up the mountain. I then proceeded to squad arty a trapped enemy commander, while using the squad points earned from a squad that I made heal the commander. I blew up their trapped commander while he yelled over and over to no avail, because his entire team was trying to use arties to kill my commander vehicle. Best game in a long time. Never have I felt like such a manipulative bastard, and felt awesome for it.
Depth charge dropping a nine-mine onto the enemy submarine CV when the water has gone so far up that the turrets can't even hit you was pretty fun, but other than that the map wasn't too great. I don't think I've ever seen a sub CV being killed by arty.
Anyone think a current map, like (Random maps here ) Canyon, Isle, Arid, or Mvalley might work as a Sinking map? The Sinking effect would have to start late and go really slowly.....
all those maps lack a huge mountain in the center you would fight for - well mvalley has that rock, but you cannot get ontop ...
If someone realy wanted to, they could rework mvalley's middle I guess. Add ramps, more varied terain?
the idea of a sinking map was bad to start with, but now it has become so familiar that people think it's good. the concept of 'sinking' is fucking stupid, amirite?
idk, as unique map it was quite ok (tho as someone else said the maplayout itself had some issues), i wouldnt want sinking as gamemode though
