empires has been this way where rpgs do pretty much no splash damage and deal negligible balance to buildings no splash damage is reasonable but i think they should deal damage to buildings on impact thoughts?
Then you get back into the rocket sniping argument that was oh-so prevalent a couple years ago (or shorter. It's been awhile). I'd prefer the rocket be anti-tank and a hilarious anti-infantry, but against buildings...it's like UML. Cheap. Sneaky. Underhanded. Annoying. Meddling.
it should do like half mortar damage if rocket sniping was actually a thing, you'd see comms dying to it
ounin comeon you remember rocket sniping anyways, im for increasing rpg damage to buildings a little more than it currently does.
add a rocket falloff that only kicks in after x meters (probly 300-400) also add a time limit on rocket guiding to say 5 seconds re-add realistic rpg damage to building, etc fixed.
If rockets had any kind of falloff...er well I guess it'd have to be a little significant actually, then damage vs buildings could easily be justified.
thats about the distance at which buildings disappear anyway ... 300 meters = 11 811.0236 inch 400 meters = 15 748.0315 inch if 1inch = 1 gameunit
dude once i killed an apc w a guided rocket from extreme NE on canyon and the apc i hit was extreme NW... it was a big shot.... but yea ounin bra... rocket snipes?
not judging, just saying. and yes, rocket sniping is bad, it rather should be countered with adequat buildings, rather then a somewhat unimaginative magic resistance - in the end its an explosive weapon - but we dont have better models and vfs will have to be this big anyway, so, yeah, rocket sniping is bad also dont rpgs deal like 1pt of damage anyway?
How about go a extra step, make the RPG and Mortar use the same ammo and double the ammunition given to the Grenadier?
RPGs do exactly 1/4 of the damage a mortar does to buildings. RPG sniping was bad, but I always felt I'd prefer some sort of solution rather than just "THEY DO NO DAMAGE". I think falloff is dumb on an RPG, it is what it is. I'd much prefer it to just lose the thrust after a certain distance and then start dropping like a tank shell.
That's exactly what I was thinking, Trickster. But it'd have to be a pretty bad drop if you didn't want people to just compensate by turning the RPG into a long-range mortar.
thats what i meant by a falloff that starts after x meters. its not a cannon shell, it would simply run out of fuel on the rocket and start to 'land'
That would be realistic and stuff but just not fun imo, dont tell me you've never experienced the fun and awesomeness of having an rpg killing an apc full of people after it went 3 blocks away from you ( minimap ) and you couldnt see anymore, I mean thats just toooo much fun to remove
