ok, you know i load slow. I join as soon as the commander voting has finished. As soon as i join a team i see "commander voting time left-2 seconds".
I plead you.....plz....tell the servers to extend their commander voting times by 30 seconds, even 20 seconds will do. After about I join, around 10 people join the game who have even slower loading times than me. Its not fair :-/

On the other hand people like me already have to wait the full 60 secs :D
But yeah, a few extra secs wouldn't hurt so much, we could discuss strategy or so in that time.

I think the relevant cvar is emp_sv_commander_vote_time or something similar.

The point is to raise this cvar's minimal value. I must say I agree, my pc isn't top-class anymore, but depending on the map I join like 15s before gamestart or 3 sec before gamestart. That's sometimes a real pain (if You would like to command, You never get elected).

Or you buy more ram? I'll guess it's pretty cheap nowdays.

not really, and it's unnecessary to spend £150-200 on RAM when someone could be kind enough to extend a vote for 20 seconds.

I agree with this too. an extra 30 seconds really wouldn't be too bad.

ohh god your talking about a whole minute wait time for commander choosing? 30 seconds already seems a long time.

    it's currently 60 seconds.

I think having 60 seconds be minimum and allowing servers to customise, so default is 90, would be fine.

I disagree, I'm usually one of the first people to load and my PC is two years old.

With 200 quid I'd be able to buy 4 gigs of DDR3 RAM lol. About 80 is enough for 2GB of good RAM.

I can say ram upgrade did some difference.. Before I had like 512, and half of the time I shoot, it made me empty my whole magasine,

now with the 2 GB, I make others empty their magasine on walls..

OK, tell me where im going wrong here, in the "set launch options" i have this:
    -heapsize 262144 +sv_forcepreload "1" +cl_forcepreload "1" -novideo

and in my autoexec i have this:
    heapsize 512000 sv_forcepreload 1 cl_forcepreload 1 novideo

Yet when i start up the game it still plays the start up video, so i check console. It basically says:
    unknown command "heapsize"
    unknown command "novideo"

Remove the commands in your autoexec.cfg

    -heapsize NUMBER +sv_forcepreload "1" +cl_forcepreload "1" -novideo

    mine is:
    -heapsize 524288 +sv_forcepreload "1" +cl_forcepreload "1"

i find that -novideo doesn't work because the animation stills comes up. I'm not sure about the heapsize. But forcepreload DEFINATELY works.

How about having a high emp_sv_commander_vote_time value and adding emp_sv_commander_vote_percent with a default value of 100 and emp_sv_commander_vote_extra_time with a default value of 10. Once it is reached, a notice like "90% of votes are in. Starting game in 15 seconds." is displayed. (The extra time is to give people a chance to change their vote.) That should give a good balance between giving everyone a chance to vote, and not wasting any time once everyone has.

It's already a variable. Ask your favorite server admin to change it. The current default setting is fine.
